Governor Taft and the religious right are morons. the ban on gay marriage pisses me the fuck off. I think that we should be allowed civil unions instead of marriages personally (because marriage has certain connotations), but having it banned seems to be a "foot in the doorway" act. what's to stop the bans and anti-queer laws from going further if this isn't contested and brought to the supreme court of ohio? sigh... politics irritates me so much. i try my hardest to see all sides of an issue, and i just don't understand why people can't try to do the same. there are many narrow-minded people, and that is extraordinarily detrimental to society. blah blah blah... i could go on, but i'm boring myself with all this bullshit.

on a different note, i'm glad valentine's day is coming. even though it is a contrived halmark holiday, it is still nice to have a "special day" like that set aside. i didn't used to think that when i was single of course instead of a boquet (or however you spell it) of flowers, i am going to draw her a rose (hmm.... i should still get her real flowers though), and it's turning out well so far. i also bought tickets to go see Yo Yo Ma play in Akron sometime in April. She is a cello player, and Yo Yo Ma is her favorite cellist. she's never been able to see him play live, and we have some pretty decent seats, so i hope she'll like it
