I guess I should update or something.

Last night I caught a story on 60 Minutes about Muslim communities residing in major cities of Non-Islamic nations (Paris, Amsterdam, Sydney and Melbourne). It left me feeling terribly conflicted ... agitated even. This was perhaps the desired effect, given the mainstream media's penchant for demonisation. Unfortunately some of the images and words of members of these communities spoke for themselves. Sheik Mohammad Omran, a radical from Melbourne, was full of contradictions. Not much of what he said made any sense at all. He was defensive (to be expected really) and brutally honest about how he would love for Australia to become a country where Islam was in the majority. He suggested that the USA was in some way accountable for September 11. There seems to be a further push for separatism, especially in the words of some American man who converted to Islam after serving in Vietnam. He is currently in Australia speaking to Muslim youth, espousing homophobia, hate for the non-Muslim and violence against women. Apparently he is attempting to become an Australian citizen. Let's hope that his application for citizenship is a spectacular failure.
I feel that these men are Islam's tragically flawed spokesmen and are doing more damage than good.

Anyway ... I will now return to my turntables and do a spot of mixing. One of the few joyful things in life.

** Excuse the enlarged cranium and nose in my new profile pic. Neither are that large in reality. Don't know what's going on with that ... I look all squooshed.

Are you Muslim or were you raised Muslim? Or, are you just interested in Islamic issues?

Your profile pic doesn't look bad to me. You look somewhat pensive. But, sizing it does seem to alter the proportions. I haven't been able to get one to look right yet..... blackeyed
