Oh no! It's time for an update!

Okay, before I get into it and ramble on and on about the most banal shit ever, let me say that I LOVE blacklisted. I got the book/CD in the mail today, and it made me feel happy. I said, "Oh, cooooooooooool." The "cool" was really drawn out, like I was stoned, but I wasn't. Because I get ber-paranoid when I toke, and that's not fun. Nor is it funny.

I fucked up royally on Wednesday. frown Wednesday was the day of the grand opening of Tiffany's & Co. in Merrick Park. Wednesday is also the day I'm supposed to co-host with Jackie the garage show, but it was also the day of an awards ceremony for seniors or somesuch. Anyhow, when I got to work, my boss needed me to stay after they closed with Andy and Mr. Bossman and do inventory. For, like, five freaking hours. Seriously, I didn't get home until around eleven. I was supposed to get off at six. It sucks.

So. I don't know what went down at WVUM, but I want to continue doing the show. You can view this as a public apology, Jackie. And you can also kick my ass. I suck. But... If my scholarship isn't renewed, I need to take on this job full-time and go to school part-time. It probably will get renewed, though.

Ah, then I came home and I was punished -- the fucking cable was out! It had been out since 5 pm, but I hoped it would come back by then, yeah? So TiVo recorded nothing but fog and snow when Angel was supposed to be recorded, and I couldn't watch my boyfriend Jon Stewart. It was sad. I have a friend who is giving me a tape of the Angel episode I missed. I hope it's as good as last week's. Angel and Connor singing "Mandy" with the name "Mandy" replaced with "Jasmine"? Fucking weird. And the little monster eating hands. Weird! But totally cool. I loved it. Hee. "I'm a vegetarian." "With those teeth?" "Okay, okay, you caught me in a lie. I eat fish and chicken, but only once in a while." And then he grabs for the blanket, and the hands, and it's funny.

Snow's ass keeps distracting me. "Raspberry Beret" is also distracting me. The lyrics keep going through my head.

I was working part time in a five-and-dime
My boss was Mr. McGee
He told me several times that he didn't like my kind
'Cause I was a bit 2 leisurely

Seems that I was busy doing something close 2 nothing
But different than the day before
That's when I saw her, Ooh, I saw her
She walked in through the out door, out door

She wore a
Raspberry beret
The kind U find in a second hand store
Raspberry beret
And if it was warm she wouldn't wear much more
Raspberry beret
I think I love her

And then I forget the rest of the lyrics and skip to the part that goes

Listen
They say the first time ain't the greatest
But I tell ya
If I had the chance 2 do it all again

I wouldn't change a stroke
'Cause baby I'm the most
With a girl as fine as she was then

And I keep singing the chorus.

I made a mix tape (well, actually there are two tapes because I couldn't fit everything I wanted on one 180 min. tape) of the original Prince songs and then the covers. It has: Prince (obviously), Rizzo, Bif Naked, Sandra Bernhard, Billy Bragg, Art of Noise, David Byrne, Capital K, K's Choice, George Clinton, Spoon, The Adults, D'Angelo, Herbie Hancock, Hefner, Ice-T, Information Society, Jesus and Mary Chain, Chaka Khan, Cyndi Lauper, Gary Numan, Sinead O'Connor, Pansy Division, Razed in Black, Simple Minds, The Residents, TLC, Xorcist, Tina Turner, Ween, Yo La Tengo, Derailers, and Miles Davis.

I love it.

I really fucking want that Prince box set that was released a few months ago. My birthday... Christmas... So far away.

Oh, there's this picture on my cork message board that I tore out from the New York Times a couple of weeks. It was from an article about these people making a traditional Easter crown roast of lamb dinner or something. Anyway, there was this big orange tabby cat that looked just like our Sammy, and he was sitting at the dinner table with everyone else. And there was a place set for him, but no food was on it. I think they didn't put any food on there so they wouldn't look crazy, but I know the second after the picture was taken, and the camera was put away, they put some food on his plate. Little Sammy likes eating turkey dinners with us. And he sits at the head of the table. And sometimes he'll jump on the table if we don't give him food fast enough. It's fun. And unbearably cute. And maybe a little annoying.

So, yeah. I've been busy with work and finals (which haven't started yet, though it was technically the last day of school today! :-) and so on. Yeah. I'll be done by the... eighth? Looking at my Day Runner... No, my last final is on the sixth of May. My first final is next Thursday, though. At eight o'clock. Though she isn't making us come in at eight. We can come in at half past, even at nine. That's good.

Oh! I was a bit reluctant to do this, because it might be perceived as "goth." But, hey, there's nothing wrong with being goth! Some of my favorite Suicide Girls are goth! Anyway, that book published in 1927 and written by Thomas C. Mann that I got for $2.50? It's chock full of epitaphs fun for the whole family. So, I will include one in each entry. The first one is on Dr. Isaac Bartholomew's grave, died in 1710 and aged 39 years (though that's questionable for whatever reason) in Cheshire, Connecticut:

He that was sweet to my Repose
Now is become a stink under my Nose.
This is said of me
So it will be said of thee.

That little couplet was fun and cheery, no?

Whenever "Little Red Corvette" gets in my head, it won't get out until I knock it loose with some Type O Negative. Heh.

Those are all good words, I'll use them in the pub to confuse my mates.

Was that a cheerleader cry or something? A drinking song?
