I hope that you are all healthy & happy and having an incredible year. As I’m sure many of you have noticed, social media platforms primarily Facebook, Instagram, and Meta, have been increasingly filtering our content via shadowbans, post removals, and account suspensions. This has challenged SG in multiple ways. It has also resulted in SOTD images being unfairly removed intermittently denying models and photographers the attention they deserve for SOTD.
Weekends tend to be the least trafficked posts, resulting in less attention both on the site and on social media. We want each set to be as celebrated as possible and the most effective. Therefore we have made the necessary decision to experiment with only posting 1 SOTD on weekends starting in August of 2022. There will only be one SOTD, posted at 6AM PST on Saturday and Sunday. Resulting in 2 less SOTD per week. We’re hoping a slight reduction in SOTD posts will result in less takedowns and help correct the algorithm while being extra mindful of their conservative preferences for posts.
We are actively working on new ways to circumvent the difficulties presented by Facebook, Instagram, and Meta. That includes brainstorming fresh ideas to grow SG’s audience outside of these platforms. We want to help models & photographers build their social presence in a way that they are able to control and profit from their efforts, while still enjoying all of the benefits of our uniquely amazing community. We are optimistic and are using our resources / creativity to have a positive takeaway from this challenge. <3
