Yesterday was my birthday... I just didn't think much of it really. I turned 26 ( my Dad loves to point out how I am not working on my second quarter century) and I thought it to be fairly uneventful. I didn't want a big party...I didn't want to go out...I was so sick recently, and am still recovering a bit, that I just wanted a simple night in. Dinner with immediate family. That sort of thing. Here's what I discovered...
1) It sucks to have to cook and clean on your birthday
2) No one should have to sit around waiting for an hour while dinner gets cold for their sister to show up. Even if it wasn't the sister's fault.
3) If you say you don't want a big hubabaloo for your birthday make sure you know you mean it... because you get what you say you want.
4) Getting older doesn't hurt, but questioning yourself does. I understand why it is that we reflect on our positions in life on our birthdays but can't we do it without the judgements. Good Lord Anni, give yourself a break.
5) From now on I am going out for my birthday. I don't want to sit at home waiting for anything. I want to be the one that shows up late. I want to dance and get drunk. I want to look foolish and not give a shit. I want to do all this and more...without having to plan any of it.

I did set up my new lights in the garage and took a self portrait. I new birthday ritual??
