So the misanthropy and adrenaline of Trauma and Orthopaedics is over for now, and just like that i'm thrown into not one medical ward- but four.

Thats right- my new hospital has dispensed with the system of having a single specialty "firm" from which we all base our studies, and adopted a new system of circulating between dedicated endocrine, gastology, cardiology, and respiratory medicine wards. Pros include a more varied exposure to diseases and thus clinical signs and clerking oppurtunitys, as well as the fact that sice the students "belong" to several wards no-one actually ever knows when were supposed to be on their ward (que guilt free spontaeneous days off...). Cons include the fact that i never know where the hell im supposed to be (I sound like im whingeing- but actually 'lost' has pretty much become my constant state of being way before this...), and the fact that my weekly reading currently skips like a scratched record.

I'm also selling my sole to the bourgeois and buying a brand stethoscope as adertised by the school. As much as i hate to admit it i hit the wards with vigour this week only to realise i actually cant hear a damn thing through my old faithful 'budget' scope. So i've swallowed my pride and all my self righteous spoutings of "it's just as good as the others, the school are just trying to con you into supporting their sponsors..." I feel like i'm experiencing socio-economic drift in the wrong direction, the middle class is slowly sucking me in (although i still wear converse style pumps and clothes from oxfam to work in mediocre protest).

Thats all in my little microcosm of reality for now, back to the books!
