spent last evening at the empty bottle seeing canasta, which was a blast as usual. they played a couple of new things i had never hard before, as well as many of my favorites. (i for some reason am unable to dance in a way that is at all cool anymore. i basically bob up and down and look like a muppet. this knowledge does not stop me from doing it however.) had nice conversations with leslie and MOC, and made fresh plans to lunch with JC, which was a relief. i was afraid my advances toward friendship were being rejected, but i was wrong. i forget sometimes that people are well meaning but get busy, just like me.

i got a tiny bit too drunk last night, but i have to admit it made me a little less socially awkward, and it did not lead me to make an ass out of myself. so that's good.

also had a good session yesterday with my therapist, lori. we talked about what a rough month april was, how j and i are growing, what's up with ella, my job situation, and my upcoming 31st birthday. 31 does feel quite a bit older than 30. why is that? but the prospect of a fun party and an ipod softens the blow.

today is general clean up day at work, and i have several other little things to get done, and then i have to go take a midterm for research methods class. i think i am reasonably prepared, but i also have to write a paper for next week, and since i am going to be out of town from wed-sun, i am not sure how i am going to swing it. ah well, i can't really get down about it, i am about to spend several days doing the job i love more than any i have ever had. and relaxing. i am a lucky woman.
