all day i have been thinking "i should write a journal entry" and all day i have not gotten around to it.
for those of you not in chicago, i'd like to report it is *FUCKING FREEZE YOUR TITS OFF COLD* here. -30 wind chill. coldest it has been in the 7.5 years i have lived here. oh yeah.
the pile here at work is never ending, but i remain cheerful. i rearranged my office and it was good. and i have a better view of the sunset from the 10th floor in evanston.
j.'s parents are in town this weekend, and we are maybe having dinner tonight (i know they are, i will join them if the timing works out).
j. and i had a talk last night about friendships. it is interesting...last night he was envying me (and a couple of select friends of his) for the ability to randomly make connections. perhaps not deep, but of a higher volume. and today i envy him for having an ex girlfriend call him and talk for an hour. i want to be friends with my exes, at least a couple of them. i want friends who want to call me and talk for an hour.
he talked about what he would like in a friend and he is not asking for much: relatively local, trustworthy, interested in hearing about him and spending time with him. that's really it. however, it is surprising how difficult that is to find.
