I took a loooooooong walk today. God, that felt good. I really, really miss being able to spend an entire weekend hiking and getting filthy-dirty. A stroll across town and back was nice, but it just wasn't the same.

Between full time work/grad school last year I didn't get to hike at all. Now I'm down to full time school, but have a relationship. I...

Yeah, and Graves's translation of The Golden Ass is hilarious, too.

Vegas was awesome. "Zumanity" was amazing and I came out way ahead on the gambling. Hell, I made more money in one hour of poker than I do in a whole day at work.

I could have made money on the trip if I hadn't felt the need to eat or pay for transportation. Darn necessities.

Thanks for the kind words... Zoloft does suck bals, doesn't it? biggrin
geraldine:
Ooh! Did any of the men ask you to blow on their dice for luck? wink
Glad you had a great time in Vegas! I really hope to catch Zumanity one day. They have so many great shows! The Bellagio fountain is so pretty. I've caught a couple times while stuck in traffic on the strip. Where did you stay?

Woo hoo! Olympics! Sports 24-7! But WHY do they televise rowing at 2-5am?! It's not the most exciting sport to watch, granted, but neither is the freakin' shot put. And rowers tend to be nicer on the eyes . . .

So, the Olympic coverage has (a) deprived me of sleep and (b) motivated me to get off my ass and onto my erg. I...

Yup. I rowed at Brown. I graduated in 2000. There's some pics in my folders from back then.
The men wining gold was unreal.

I have to see my family in a couple of weeks. But that's okay because when I drop them off at the airport to leave, I will also be picking up my best friend. Haven't seen her in a year. Here's hoping ours is one of those "pick up where you left off without missing a beat" friendships.

A new twist on the old hypothetical:...

yes... i find that happens often when i admit something to myself about myself i previously didn't want to... the silence usually doesn't last long and is soon followed by a bittersweet realization of what a dumb ass i can be sometimes...

i kind of like it though....

A friend of mine and I went to see Troy a week or so ago. At one point they show Laocoon saying what amounts to "That's a pretty horse, let's bring it inside!" I was pissed. Afterward I explained to my friend about the statue Laocoon and the story around it. I don't know if you've seen the movie yet, but of all the "changes" they made to the story, that was the one the bothered me the most. So, I went and sought out a good pic of the statue and put it up as my pic.

So, what's the story behind your pic? I'm guessing something to do with the "if a thousand monkeys typed on typewriters they could eventually by sheer accident write a Shakespeare play" theory....

The "cooties" have been identified. I have ants. I actually admire ants--such industrious little bug(ger)s. I cleaned my kitchen but they didn't go away . . . kind of like stray dogs, they keep coming back to the one who fed them. I explained that it wasn't fair because I hadn't fed them on purpose, but they would not listen. I decided to compromise with...

I just had to stop by and say that I love your name! tongue
geraldine:
We get ants a lot during the summer. They seem to come from all corners of the house! But what's worse is when we get mice or lizards. (The lizards come in when someone leaves the back door to the garden open) Because my cat seems to think they make great toys, and he just loves to give us toys! Hey, it's the thought that counts, right? tongue

Have a great weekend!

My girlfriend and I use the word "cookies" as code for "orgasm." Try it out and see what fun it is. Girlscouts suddenly don't seem so innocent . . . eeek
tjaden:
lol. codewords are always fun... as for the bourbon... definitely on the knob creek boat as well - until i managed to acquire a 1.75L (!) bottle of it... after that... i think i went to jameson for a little bit... then to maker's mark... as of late, i've actually been just drinking a good marietta... think i kinda overdid it with that massive bottle. the thing was from costco for fuck's sake! eeek
geraldine:
Cookies? I ought to try that! smile

Thank you so much for the positive thoughts and sweetness!
I'm glad to say I feel better and I know your positive vibes helped me. I truly appreciate it!

Hope your weekend is going great!

Actually, its commonly practiced among Filipino families... they also call it a debut. Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil is one of my favorite books and I would like to go to a "real" cotillion someday... biggrin

From the SG preferences page: "edit your friends" Interesting concept. Wouldn't do it if I could. "edit self" would be another story. I'm too scatterbrained.

I've decided that "shiver" should be a transitive verb. Consider: You shiver me. What other words should we use differently?
