Woo hoo! I'm one of the few people who actually gets today off. Which is why I'm awake hours earlier than usual, I guess. Got to take advantage of the time off and do fun things like get the oil changed and work on my budget so that I can pay parking tickets. Not that I couldn't get up early on a non-holiday and do...

About secrets: Sorry, I have no insights. I was asking because I've seen so many hollywood movies where they say "No secrets"; and I think (but I'm not sure) that that is bogus. So, it's a tricky thing all round. That thread helps a little bit, but not much. Good Luck though.

Honey, I'm home! surreal

RE: "I know . . . I suck because I got to go home early. But I'm already back and teaching if that's any consolation."

No consolation at all, Baby! I'm back at work, too, and my days this week are chock-a-block with nutjobs from the community and schizoid homeless men asking crazy questions all day long because the students haven't come back yet. At least in the classroom you don't have random people popping by and expecting you to know more than they do about their favorite obsessions or asking to buy your books from you -- for a sizeable donation to the University, of course -- because their great, great-grandparents, whom they'll be delighted to tell you all about before you even consider asking, are on pages 35-37 inclusive... I'm sure I'll be chewing my own ears off by the end of the week just to escape the inane questions. tongue

Thank you so much, that was so, so very hard but Patsy is always immovable from the top spot. Dunno what it is about her voice but I NEVER get bored love

Headed home for the holidays.

Got ALL my Xmas shopping done in under two hours.

Happy Whatever-you-call-it. biggrin

Man, I've got to work until the 22nd. You suck. Winter graduation's this Saturday, and all of the teaching faculty will be heading home. I still have to stay on and work. Did I mention that you suck? kiss

I hate X-mas shopping. I never know what to get people. I'd like to give my people something that I know they want, but they have expensive taste and I'm poor. So, I try to think of something that they will really enjoy. But booze just doesn't seem like a really heartfelt, meaningful gift.

I think I know what I want to get my girlfriend,...

Reason # 323 Why I Should be Voted "Most Professional Instructor EVAR":

In my comments on a student's paper, I wrote the following: "one of the things that separates great writers from good writers is that great writers can cover up the fact that they might not really care about the assigned topic." Yes, my young student, learn to bullshit. Learn to fake it. You...

I live in Frisco which is right next to Plano. Think Preston and 121 intersection. I'm like everyone here, say ya'll and aint all the time. Never say fixin to though.
I'm only a hick when it comes to the classic country. I'm having Pat green thrown at me, only heard recent stuff and it sucked. I'll hear his older stuff though. Keith Whitton kicked ass.
School is just overpowering and having no fun right now sucks.
My little brother is about to move to Washington, graduated from the Army Thanksgiving week. has to be in Washington the 13th next week.

You from Texas, too? I just got back from DFW. Saw friends and family and all that. Good times. Austin... man, I hate Austin. Maybe hate is too strong, but the few times I drove down there I had a bad time. Shot at once, even.

I had a History teacher in college that would write "BS" in red on your paper if you rabbled on. He said it meant "be specific". Riiiight. wink

So, yeah, now I remember why I don't go home over T-day. It's not that the weather and food aren't absolutely wonderful . . . it's the fact that I have to convince myself to return to school and freeze my ass off.

Hell, don't even get along with my family and I want to go home again. Fuckin' NOW.

thanx for your lovely comment about my SB set

Thanks for the kind words about the band. I want to get you a disc. I understand if you don't want to give an address, but if you want, I can send one to your department at school.

As for going home vs. school, I can understand the wanting to be done and wanting to be home. There is something about going back, especially if things are tough at school. I am a grad school drop out myself so I know what it's like (at least from my point of view). Fight strong! The degree is worth it. Otherwise, you'll end up with a low paying job at a university, struggling to be a musicians, living with your parents so that you can afford to put out a record and thinking that everyday is the torture that you are receiving for not finishing you masters.

...but I'm not bitter.

Headed home for Thanksgiving. That's the first time I've been home, period, for two years, and the first time I've been home for Thanksgiving in five.

Going home always leaves me with conflicted emotions. I have very strong emotional ties to the PLACE (the state, city, my house, everything), but the people leave something to be desired (both in and outside of my family.)

But,...
