My dad was taken back to hospital yesterday. Not only is he recovering from the recent back op, but his diverticulitis has flared up again, causing him excruciating abdominal pain - so much so that they are having to treat him with morphine. My mom SMSd (text messaged) me this morning, though, to say that he is doing much better, & that she believes he is in very capable hands & being well looked after. Don't you just hate it when you can really notice your parents getting old? My folks are both in their early 60s, & I dread to think of all the physical (& maybe even mental) ailments that are yet to come surreal

After signing off the final plans on our kitchen yesterday (mahogany cupboards with pale "raw silk" granite counter tops & brushed steel handles to match all the appliances), I took a drive up the other side of the mountain to site. The steel reinforced cement foundations are in (allowing us to build a 2nd storey down the line - when finances allow) & the stone dividing wall is finished. The bricks are due to arrive on Monday, at which stage the building of the house itself can finally get started...

Above: The wall between us & our only direct neighbours...the other 3 sides are quiet public road, yey! All those stones were reclaimed from site, giving our property a typically "Northcliff feel".

Above: Here you can get an idea of what our view is going to be like. That is Hillbrow Tower just to the right & below the bird in the sky - probably the Jo'burg city skyline's most famous landmark. Obviously only once the old tennis court fencing has been removed & we've done a lot of chopping back of vegetation in the front garden - below the rim flow pool - are we going to be able to make the most of it. Sundowners on the martini seat in the pool overlooking all the twinkling evening lights...aah smile

My writing seems to have taken a back seat these past couple of weeks while my agency has been picking up steam. So far, my models have done work / booked jobs for: Dis-Chem, Castrol, South Side Choppers & Whirlpool...

On Saturday we're going to the baptism of little Luca Comanescu - Julian (Lee's business partner) & Egina's baby boy - followed by a big celebratory lunch (they have family out from Romania for the occassion!) And on Sunday I'm going to direct another photo shoot for one of my clients, with one of my models. I had to cancel both our Friday AND Saturday night's revelries (Deconstruction Disco Safari party in Troyeville & girls' night out at Cellardoor in Melville), to ensure I have enough energy for my other commitments. I was actually very pissed off by the way CreatingX, the organiser of the Deconstruction party, stuffed me & my models around. Without going into detail, I have now decided not to do any more "favours for friends". Maybe if they actually pay for our services - like any other client - they'll think twice before jerking us around mad

Lee & I still need to try & find time to go see the breeder about putting in an order for one of her adorable Boerboel pups love But with our hectic weekend schedules, I'm seriously beginning to wonder when we're going to get a chance...Maybe I'll have to go out on my own one weekday whatever

This afternoon I'll be making moodboards for our bathroom(s) + 2nd bedroom / home office. We're getting the same company who custom-designed our kitchen to do our BICs & vanities as well. Much simpler!

Hope you all have yourselves a fab weekend; don't do anything I wouldn't do tongue

feerlessfreddy:
the summer climate in vegas is very hot. our lows are about 80 degres fahrenheit, at 1 in the morning, to 110 or so during the day. at work it gets about 130 or so on the deck since it reflects the sun. alot of visitors seem to think since its a "dry" heat its not as bad as a humid climate but its hot. in houston it rarely got to 100 degrees but the humidity was usually at 90 to 100 percent. i always had frizzy hair and would sweat just taking out the garbage.

Induna Boerboels are of the best. I have all the Animal Talk magazines ... give me a call and I can give you more breeder names.

It's always nice to see the house coming up ... hope you have a happy house building!
