I am finally starting to get my models some real work (in both fashion & advertising), so thankfully I will be able to start contributing to the household income again. The new house is putting us under a LOT of pressure financially. But we know in the end it'll all be worth it. We are both champing at the bit to get out of this damn complex!
Am going to have to go see the dog breeder pretty soon to put in an order for a puppy. Even though we will only want him in about June, apparently there is quite a waiting list for Boerboel pups, so the sooner the better.
We went to the Home Show at the Sandton Convention Centre yesterday, & I am now in the process of putting together a moodboard for our kitchen, so when I go see the various companies for quotes in the next couple of weeks they have a good idea of exactly what we want.
My dad is apparently going in for a back operation tomorrow morning, but I'm still not speaking to him after our fallout in January, so I've sent him "get well wishes" via my mom, via email. (She & I are only on very cool, civil terms at the moment). It feels kinda shit - deliberately not communicating with someone you love, especially when they are going through a tough situation & feeling their most vulnerable - but this is the price he must pay. I'm sure we'll eventually work things out, but in retrospect this blowup was a looong time coming, & there are certain issues he needs to work through before I will let him into my space again.
Below is a pic of my folks back in the early 70s before the Durban Child Welfare Society phoned them up one day with news of an available baby girl (moi!) who would come into their lives & turn their conservative world totally upside down, ha ha!!
