Had a typically hectic weekend...

Lee's brother, Gary, was up in Jozi on business, so on Friday night we went out for dinner with him & our mate, Richard - to The Mediterranean in Fourways. Ended up polishing off 2 bottles of red wine between 3 of us (Lee drank beer) & a full 3-course meal each, which Lee says he has never seen me do in the 12+ years he has known me eeek But I was frickin STARVING the food was damn good, so can you really blame me oink

On Saturday I joined Yolanda & her sister, Lara, for (a light!) lunch at a little coffee shop in Cresta, while Lee & Gary stayed home & watched DVDs. Both Yo & Lar are pregnant at the mo, so it was quite a laugh for me seeing their enormous appetites in full swing biggrin

Gary left on Saturday afternoon, & Lee & I got an early night in preparation for my Edge Models test shoot early the following morning. Unfortunately, as it turns out, I won't be able to use one of the girls (she was not quite what she had made herself out to be in her emails & photographs leading up to the shoot, & definitely doesn't make the grade for what I am prepared to represent), but Tarryn & Jennifer were complete winners, yeehaaaaah smile

After the shoot, Lee & I stayed on for lunch at the venue where we had done the shoot (Primi Piatti / Primi Studio at The Zone in Rosebank), where we were joined by our mate, Andrew - also in town on business.

From there we went through to Frost Ave - just around the corner from 44 Stanley Ave, at the base of the old gas works in Milpark / Braamfontein - to have a look at the progress on a complex of industrial-style loft apartments the developers of The Refinery have been working on. We were not terribly impressed. Since The Refinery, the developers seem to have lost the plot a bit, ie. gotten greedy & compromised on the awesomely grandiose scale of each individual space for the sake of squashing in more units & making a bigger profit.

And then it was on to a place simply called "88", which is in Norwood, just off Grant Ave, where we joined Gia & a handful of her crazy mates for the football final on a big screen. Had a lovely Polish waitress who really knew the meaning of "keep the drinks coming"!!...By half-time Andrew had left (work commitments), & Lee & I - both rather tanked - found ourselves nodding off on the big suede couch which we had adopted for the duration of the celebrations. After minimal discussion, we decided that we'd far rather watch the 2nd half on our OWN couch, & duly raced off to Northwold in my little MINI, where we managed to catch most of the remainder of the game in the quiet & comfort of our own home. After all the excitement, while I was lying in bed & drifting off to la-la land, I was left with a rather warm & fuzzy patriotic feeling knowing that, in 4 years from now, we will be hosting this very same series right here on home soil smile

I fucking HATE not being able to edit my journal entries mad mad mad And no-one at the SG helpdesk seems to give a damn about this annoying bug in their system robot robot robot

Anyway, there seems to be a problem with the link to Tarryn's 1st pic, so here I go again...

PS. All credit to Sean Coetzer for taking the amazing photographs smile
