Dear god I feel dreadful. The muscles around my stomach and ribs feel sore; usually I'd chalk this up to the somatic dysfunction, but Dad has been having similiar complaints for the last couple of days. Of course, I'm used to have torn and/or bruised muscles, so I think I'm still faring better than him.
I have to take him to the hospital at 7 am tomorrow to get his knee replaced again. The main reason I came back to this one-horse town was to attend school while taking care of him during his first knee replacement, so it sort of feels like we're back to square one in many respects. His recovery time the first time around was extraordinarily fast for a man his age, but all the mistakes made by the original surgeon quickly degraded the situation to more pain and disability than he had with his natural kneecap. Not only was the aluminum prosthetic placed improperly, but the surgeon also failed to use enough bonding agent to keep it in place, as the amount used has dissolved. It's hard to say for certain when I'll be able to leave now, but staying around to see him through this is hardly something that I would regret doing.
Minerva is a birthday girl! Give her love!
I talked to Morgan for a long time last night, and it was amazing how much we had in common, especially the parts we play in our respective group dynamics. It really elevated my mood to have found such a kindred spirit in her. In fact, I've truly enjoyed the conversational company of everyone I've talked to around that particular part of the country; I can't wait to visit everyone up there next month!
