I've been thinking about deism a lot lately. Partly due to reading a lot of Thomas Paine, but mostly because I keep seeing these Fundamentalist groups on the news justifying their actions by saying, "The Founding Fathers wanted us to do this, because they wanted a Christian Nation." This of course is a load of bullshit, since the founders were deists: Washington, Jefferson, Allen...hell, Thomas Paine wrote the essays that the modern deists all quote from. I guess the advantage of being in a fundamentalist political group is that they don't require you to graduate from grade school.
I'm still stressing about the pool hall though. I just found out today that my brother does not have an actual lease with the landlord, but only a spoken aqreement. Considering the landlord is an greedy asshole slum lord, I'm thinking twice about helping any further at this point. I should have known that my brother would have had this place too fucked up for me to fix, but I just had to be a sucker enough to give him the benefit of the doubt.
Maybe I'll feel better about this when school is finally out.
