I can't believe it is April tomorrow...that means I have a brithday coming up. Sigh. I really don't feel all that old...I am sure one day I will laugh at my talk of feeling old, being old, etc. I guess I am still fighting that image I used to have of myself at this age....married, kids, good paying job...or staying home with the kids and writing my novels. Yet here I am...scraping by...single as can be...I don't really care but sometimes it is just hard to wrap your head around what you thought would be and what is.
So enough maudlin brooding. I had a great time in Austin at my very first SXSW festival. I have decided next year I am going to both the interactive conference and thereby getting a badge to the music part. I will save my pennies or better yet, find a job that will send me to the conference. And I am going alone. Or with someone who doesn't feel the need to tag along. My friend is cool..but after spending every single moment with someone except for those times when you escape to the loo...I don't know..maybe I am too independent for my own good. I saw a great number of bands and I saw the Doves which is the only band i really would have been upset if I had missed. They were worth the wait of three years and the pain in my feet and legs from standing for 14 hours...so so good. Wish I were going to Coachella to see them again.
Anyways, if you are into music, want to be walking down the street or watching a show and run into another band...SX is the place to be. I saw no less than three bands just walking around 6th St or at Stubbs and I saw Phoenix at the airport...I wanted to tell the lead singer that they put on a great show...but I am shy and he was looking for his gate info and I am stupid I know...I should have interupted...but I have great memories so not talking to different bands is okay...just hearing them live is all that matters....I can't wait for next year.
