I hope this saves a few people the frustration of reading through 10 posts to find no answers about their low coolant this winter. G12 coolant, the coolant that we use in our VW's as specified, has a tendency to shrink in extremely cold temperatures! If you get a low coolant warning this winter, don't stress out! Simply add a cup of distilled water and keep an eye on it, but most likely your G12 has simply contracted and you really don't have a leak! G12 can be mixed with distilled water anywhere from 40/60 to 60/40 and still be completely effective at protecting from freezing down to -34 degrees F and boiling up to 226 degrees F. The propper ratio to mix is 50/50 but like I said earlier, if your G12 gets low this winter don't freak out, just mix in a cup of distilled water so that your resevoir
