Edit: Sunday being my annual Feliz Navidad party, I thought I'd scrimp this time and make my own tamales (I can get pork real cheap, but all the vegetarian ones are "artisan" and like $2.50 each).
Note, I have never made tamales before.
The tamales did not win.
...But neither did I.
Basically, masa was all like: "Ha. Ha. Ha. I MOCK you white girl...I mock you SO HARD."
The first third wound up being not-really-even-edible rejects, though the others turned out pretty well. But next time I think I'm going to see how much Mexican grandmothers charge by the hour...that shit is hard work.
