Tattoo Brainstorming - Clockwork
Clock - the importance of time and its congruence with those you love
Gears showing - represents my technical background, an engineer
Skull / Sprouting vines at 12 spot - death/life
Hands broken off - desire to deviate from the predetermined path
Phoenix - rite of passage / trial by fire / learning from your mistakes and coming back strong (failed out of college but am graduating in 2 months
Additional symbolism:
My career path directly relates to a well working well oiled machine. I feel like a clock with gears symbolizes this very well.
My roommate just suggested the Phoenix idea but I'm having a really tough time thinking that both a phoenix and a clock could be portrayed well together in the same tattoo.
