Its come full circle for illustrator David Lloyd. Back when he and Alan Moore first created V for Vendetta in 1981 they couldnt have expected that 25 years later it would become a big budget action flick. While Moore has dismissed all future film adaptations of his work, Lloyd has embraced director James McTeigue and screenwriters/producers The Wachowski brothers. Lloyd has been traveling with the...

Armor For Sleep isnt a progressive rock band but they have just created their story album called What To Do When You Are Dead. This idea came out of a very emotional period for their vocalist Ben Jorgensen. I got a chance to talk with Jorgensen about what put him in that state of mind.

Boy Sets Fire has got a busy year so far. Not only have they re-released their classic album The Day the Sun Went Out but they just put out an all demo album called Before the Eulogies and they have a new album called The Misery Index: Notes from the Plague Years. Its a little Dostoyevsky sounding but hey they had a rough couple of...

this interview got me interested in them again.
hoogle:
Oh, boysetsfire. Honestly, they're probably my favorite band to see perform, ever. I've never ever felt the kind of energy that just pours out of the band and the crowd at every performance.
I'm picking up the new album first thing tomorrow. I saw them in this little tiny-ass bar in Albany somewhere, and they played a veritable slew of new stuff. It seems much more akin to their After The Eulogy work, and I'm too goddamn excited about it.
Protest is Patriotism. Always.

Alexandre Aja is turning into a great horror auteur. He first broke into the American market with the disturbing thriller High Tension. Now he is releasing his first American horror film, a remake of the classic The Hills Have Eyes. This version casts Silence of the Lambs star Ted Levine as a loving father with a whole town fill irradiated mutants to fight.

This guy makes me fucking sick.
I hardly ever get star struck when talking to all these musicians and movie stars. But when Sarah Jessica Parker walked into the room and started chatting, it seemed so unreal. I am still a big fan of Sex in the City and to hear that famous voice responding to my queries was quite exciting.

Prime is a marvelous film. It stars Uma Thurman as a woman seeing a psychoanalyst [Meryl Streep] in New York City. Coincidentally she starts dating her psychoanalysts son [Bryan Greenberg] who is 15 years younger than her.
It is written and directed by Ben Younger who made a 180 from his big splash in the film world with Boiler Room.

My girlfriend dragged me to this film. The way she described it it sounded like "Beaches 2." It was nothing like Beaches, and I ended up enjoying it a lot. If there was an Academy Award for best chemistry between two actresses it should have gone to Meryl Streep and Uma Thurman. Somtimes I had to laugh out loud just because of their facial expressions they made during their uncomfortable situations.

ben younger is in my cool book now.. i haven't even heard of boiler room, will have to track it down..
When I first called in to talk to Matt Fleckenstein, someone answered the phone Drake & Josh. I got very excited because for some reason even though Im 30 years old I am obsessed with that show. I think that both Drake Bell and Josh are enormously talented plus its created by Dan Schneider, the heavy set dude from Head of the Class!

Aaron Eckhart scared a generation of filmgoers with his misogynistic character in the seminal independent film In the Company of Men. Since then hes played such roles as the sympathetic biker in Erin Brockovich to a fast talking shyster in Paycheck. Now hes playing the be all end all of shysters; a tobacco lobbyist in Thank You For Smoking.

Very good interview with Asia Argento, saw the movie and really liked it too.
jeremyscareme:
The Asia interview is really good. You got a lot out of her! Interesting. I got amazing photos on the set last night for you. I sorta jumped in at one point for publicity pix and it went insane. You'll approve.
And arial is the choicest.

V is so close to my heart though... I know I'm going to feel at least a little betrayed that it's going to be all "Matrixed Up."
In the end, I've got to sympathize with Alan Moore on this. I would hate to see something I made (especially if I made something as wonderful as V) have trailers with "FROM THE CREATORS OF THE MATRIX" on them. It would crush me. I relate a lot to Moore, on a lot of things, which is maybe why I enjoy his work so very much.

I'm sure I'll like the film in the same way I like From Hell. An adaption that is nothing like as good as the original, but still a good movie.

It's not very "Matrixed Up" at all. And to be honest, most of the changes are for the best. The character of Gordon is completely different, but he's actually sympathetic now. They only made two real changes that I was dissappointed by (one during the Bishop's scene, and the other is that they didn't have enough time to deal with Prothero's dolls, though you do get to see them in the background.)
