Dame Darcy is best known for her Fantagraphics comic book series Meatcake. But now she has taken on the ambitious project of adding illustrations to the Charlotte Bronte classic Jane Eyre for The Illustrated Jane Eyre. I got a chance to talk with Dame as she was traveling the country doing signings and shows with her band Death By Doll.

In the movies weve all heard Michael Madsen either threaten and kill people but it sounds much different when hes threatening for real. I got a chance to talk with Madsen from his home about the new 15th anniversary DVD of Reservoir Dogs. Apparently Madsens home is a zoo with his five sons and a large collection of animals. When Madsen and I were speaking...

Nice...another great read. Thanks!
I was at San Diego Comicon for the first time this past summer. When I read that Robert Smigel was going to be there presenting material from the Best of TV Funhouse DVD, I wanted to meet up with him and say hi. I have met Smigel a couple of times in person before but not since our epic interview back in 2004. When I...

No one was more surprised than Weird Al Yankovic himself when his new album, Straight Outta Lynwood, jumped onto the Billboard Top 10--a first for the prolific artist. Straight Outta Lynwood is powered by the hit single White and Nerdy. I spoke with Weird Al about his recent promotional tour for the album.

The nine masked members of Mushroomhead have had a wild ride over these past few years. Now theyve decided to kick up their heels and try to blow themselves up. Their latest album, Savior Sorrow, has been getting some nice radio play, and if hard band like Mushroomhead can make it onto mainstream then this crazy world just might have a chance. I spoke with...

Fuck, I think all bands would be better off wearing masks.
Remember when KISS took off their makeup!

Stephen and Timothy are the filmmakers collectively known as the Brothers Quay. They are Philadelphia born twins who seemingly have never separated. They have always worked together creating short animated films such as Street of Crocodiles and The Cabinet of Jan Svankmajer. They even contributed animation to Peter Gabriels Sledgehammer video and created numerous other videos and commercials. They first entered the feature film realm...

I thought Piano Tuner was both good and not so good.
I try to be forgiving with the low budgetness,
but its hard. Its harder when the
filmmaker is quite ambitious usually.
There's definitely things that come across
as bad pretentious poetry, and others
that are successfully beautiful, engaging, mystical, other-worldy...etc.
That's too bad that's all they've said for years,
how they can't get funding these days.
The state of art on earth is just smothered by garbage.
I can try and apologize for America's share of it.
haha.

"There was a story in there about a famous Cameroonian rain ant who goes to the forest floor and inhales the spores that fall from the sky. Upon sniffing it, it climbs the stalk, clamps its mandibles around the stalk and then dies. But the fungus carries on eating out the brain and then this violent stalk explodes with more spores that fall down for the next unsuspecting floor foraging animal. That became a metaphor about madness in the broad sense of the word."

I have been trying to get Dave Attell on the phone for years. Attell is one of the best working comedians out there and he has a major cult following among comedians and fans of comedy, plus he has crossed over to the frat boys with his mlange of drinking on the show Insomniac with Dave Attell. On November 16 Attell will do a show...

I love talking to the people behind my favorite cartoon voices. I got John Kricfalusi to insult me as Ren, Billy West demonstrated how easily he can slip into Dr. Zoidberg and now I've gotten Harry Shearer to throw some Ned Flanders at me. I was lucky enough to sit down with Harry Shearer, the man behind some of the greatest characters in popular culture...

I should admit this right off the bat: Im not a huge fan of Travis Barkers music. The only work of his Ive really gravitated to is The Transplants; I'm still spinning that disc ever since I interviewed Skinhead Rob nearly a year and a half ago. But Barkers new band +44 is good and a lot of fun. Hes teamed up with another former...
