i'd almost say 'broke' also encapsulated the break from the 'deviant' sound and look of punk music, as it brought mass audiences to a level of musical acceptance bands like the sex pistols and ramones couldn't perpetuate.

Punk did not break in '91. It was in 1976. It started in New York with bands like the Ramones and the Dead Boys. I do not consider bands like Nirvana or Pearl Jam as "punk". It was more like the Sex Pistols meets Led Zeppelin. It is just my opinion and then again I was never into the so-called "grunge" sound when it came out and I was in Seattle when it was all of the rage.

How did I overlook this interview? Hero and House of Flying Daggers both took high place on my favorite movies list immediately after seeing them.

I still like How to Satisfy a Woman Every Time (and Have Her Beg for More) by Naura Hayden. It's the crass blue-collar slob's guide to pleasuring a woman. It's written by a female, so it's easier to believe she knows what she's talking about. She's not just a sexologist, she also has a pussy.

I also like how she speaks slowly and uses small words. As a guy of the male gender, I find it very comforting when a woman stops being all complex and confusing and talks down to my level.

I found She Comes First to be much better than Violet Blue's The Ultimate Guide to Cunnilingus, even though she has a pussy and even likes to lick them herself. I hadn't heard of the Tijuana Bibles until this year, actually. I was taking a class about comic book literature and it came up during the reading of Watchmen that Alan Moore was making reference to them in a couple of panels, where Sally Jupiter had the little "Silk Spectre" comic.

Art Spiegelman is one of my favorites, too. I'm interested in learning more about what these guys like so much about these little books.

wow! i had no idea there was a new collection. i first read about them in Comix, and got steadily more irate at the way the artists were treated like pariahs by the american legal system. i think its fantastic there is now a collection, but perhaps unfortunate that it seems to be packaged as a form of social history rather than a mode of subversion enjoying a new lease of life.
