The Andrew Repasky McElhinney film, George Bataille's Story Of The Eye, is a difficult film to summarize. Its groundbreaking in its structure especially in the world of pure art cinema. The movie is inspired by the novel, Story of the Eye which Georges Bataille released to great controversy in 1929.

The film truly has no strong structure but instead is a series of non titillating...

hmm, i would like to see a straight adaptation, but this sounds interesting.
_miked_:
The 03-04ish movie???!!! I got this when it came out. Come on now... This is anything but art. I get a lot of B flick/experimental/imports and I was pissed when I go this. Let's get this strait... This is the movie with a full on gay porn scene at the beginning... (and I'm no homophobe either but there's a line) ...and I think at the end there is a girl smoking a cigarette, hacking while giving some guy head?... That movie sucks... I mean it blows... hmmm, I mean, to say,"it bites back" is pretentious. In the words of the late, great Bill Hicks,"Piece of shit." To each there own but to promote this as some ground breaking film is garbage. It's not that I don't get it. Oh,... I get it.... It just sucks. It's like when art students go to some modern art exhibit where little motors drop plywood planks on the floor repetitively.... (I saw this, whew)... and say,"how cleaver." WHAT?! It's retarded. There are too many pseudo art fags out there who think provocative, shocking and meaningless abstraction means art. I just wanted to say my piece and this is just an opinion but feel free to mail me when you see it and tell me what you thought.smile

p.s. I'm not trying to be an asshole... Really, this movie is crap. This is an old post, I know.. but it popped up on the bottom of my page (JUST NOW) and I couldn't resist.

Hey. I saw your profile pic on a thread a minute ago. It made me laugh. I watched Caddyshack on dvd last night.

"Correct me if I'm wrong, Sandy, but if i kill all the golfers, they're gonna lock me up and throw away the key."

Oh, I really enjoyed reading The Life Aquatic interviews recently. Good job!

I hope my art made a positive impression on you...The last story we did so fast, I would have loved to have another week or 2 on it.

Most people would describe Rammsteins music as disturbing but if you really get into them with seeing their videos and their stage shows, its actually quite hysterical and clever. You cant take a band too seriously where the lead singer pretends that a firehose is his cock and sprays water all over the audience.

Their latest album is Reise Reise with the single Amerika on...

Ronnie James Dio has been a staple of the heavy metal scene for longer than many of us have been alive. With the resurgence of interest in metal and 80s metal in particular, Dio has been riding a new wave of popularity. That popularity wave has left a new album in its wake, Master Of The Moon.

Check out the official website for Dio

Talking to Jarboe at times felt like talking to a beautiful woodland creature that inhabits the deepest part of Neil Gaimans mind because she is one part poetry and another part comedy. She is truly a beautiful woman inside and out. Anyone who is discovering her for the first time can get her albums and the reissues of The Swans albums. Someone who is longtime...

Jeremy Irons is best known for starring in the David Cronenberg film, Dead Ringers.

But of course that was back in 1988, now Jeremy Irons is transporting us even farther back in time by starring in The Merchant of Venice which is directed by Michael Radford. Irons plays Antonio to Al Pacinos Shylock.

Now we come to the final David Cronenberg related portion of the coverage of the Wes Anderson film The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou. Jeff Goldblum played Seth Brundle in the monstrous horror hit, The Fly. Now in The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou he is playing the lovable rival, Alistair Hennessey, to Bill Murrays Steve Zissou.
