I have never seen a more energetic live show than the Gamblers. It's not uncommon to see Mike swinging from the rafters, wading through the crowd or rolling on the floor, all while singing his little heart out. I miss seeing Mike and Fadi at The Brickhaus in Denton getting some coffee and nursing a hangover.

Watching shows like Wildboyz and Jackass really brings up that bile of fear in the back of my throat. Now if I was one of the Dudesons I would puke that bile up on my best friend while he was sleeping on an ice floe. The Dudesons consist of childhood friends from Finland named Jukka Hildn, Jarno Leppl, H-P Parviainen and Jarno Laasala. In their...

Wait... Nevermind YouTube... The internet's been around for four years?!?! Where have I been?!

Hahahaha!

I love anything to do with Jackass, Viva La Bam, Wild Boyz... When I saw The Dudeson's on Viva La Bam, I was just waiting politely for them to show up.

They did.

But they didn't talk about Jarppi!

Awesome interview. smile

More more more more about people of this nature! My lifestyle is very similar to theirs. I just wish I had cameras and shit. biggrin Cash-cow! Cash-cow! biggrin

Page Hamilton is the brainchild behind the heavy wall of sound New York band Helmet. Helmet has been pounding our skulls with their unique brand of music since the early 90s. For a while Helmet had been broken up but they reunited for their 2004 album. But since the lineup has changed but Hamilton has stayed the same and now they are going on...

Funny that you bumped this now. Shalome, brvhrt and I just saw them last week at the Troubadour in LA. We very nearly went to the second night too, because there were still tickets available (amazingly). It was an incredible show. They were all very tight, despite a couple of the band members being pretty new to the gig. I saw them back with their old lineup too, in 94, with The Jesus Lizard and Therapy opening, and I don't think I ever realized until seeing them at such a small venue as the Troubadour how phenomenal a guitar player Page is. On top of that, he was so down to earth and nice, staying out after the show ended to chat with fans at the edge of the stage. Toward the end of the show he and their bassist were posing for camera-phone shots, and he encouraged everyone to shoot, record, youtube, bootleg, whatever the shows.
mistresst:
Ah, Helmet... takes me back...

Jason Leopold has written News Junkie a book that not only every single journalist, of every kind, should read but it should be read by every person who wants to find out how the world really works. While Leopold was a boozer and a user he was also a journalist for such prestigious places as the Los Angeles division of Dow Jones Newswires. Before getting...

SG connection = DigDug designed the book and cover. blush

when I looked at the home page just now, i saw the rounded box where the latest interview always appears, often with a tasteful and apt image. but just now i thought the current graphic was extremely lacking, ran out of ideas, eh SG? it looked like distressed or oddly billowing text.

but then i saw "NEWS JUNKIE"....and then saw that those were two lines of something a junkie would like. IT WAS THAT MOMENT WHEN GREAT GRAPHIC DESIGN SHONE THROUGH. i was going to post something like "wow, smart graphic that completely drew me into starting the interview and clicking through to the "buy" link."

to find out it is by local hero DD...even sweeter.

nice work!

earplug6947:
great interview too.

God where do you begin with a talent like Les Claypool? He has one of the most unique voices and bass playing style in all of the entire music industry. He first broke out with Primus, one of the best bands ever, but they still manage to suck at the same time. With the popularity that Primus gave Claypool he was able to strike...

Ah, my plan is finally coming together, I get to interview all my favorite artists and then invite them to my Bar Mitzvah. At least that was the plan when I was 12. Certainly famed director Walter Hill was high on that list. I may have been a very young man when I saw my first Walter Hill film, 48 Hrs and I definitely did...

I'm also a great Palast fan but the potty mouth stuff doesn't win hearts and minds either. I can call Cheney a fuckwad but a journalist needs to put a cap on that kinda language.
