The closest we have ever got to experiencing smell in a movie is when John Waters Polyester was released in odorama and people were given scratch and sniff cards when they came to the theatre. But much like the original novel of Perfume: The Story of a Murderer, the film adaptation directed by Tom Tykwer does an amazing job of describing and presenting what the...

Don't dread the movie, Tykwer is a cinematic wizard. The Princess and the Warrior is probably a better material for judging his work than Run, Lola, Run.

i haven't seen princess and the warrior, but i'll check it out. run, lola, run... that movie was ok.

i mean, i'll still see it. i know tons of folks have talked about making this book into a movie over the years. it was just kind of a shock seeing that interview on the front page.

I loved the book! Can't wait to see how the movie turns out! smile

Whenever I meet a superhero comic book fan that wants to expand his or her horizons, the first book I always point them to is Concrete created by Paul Chadwick. Concrete is a creator owned comic book that just celebrated its 20 year anniversary. It is the story of a former political speechwriter that is mysteriously kidnapped by aliens and has his brain transplanted into...

Wow! I never thought I'd see this interview, so few people seem to read Concrete!

Maybe this will help to drag him out into the limelight a little!
ainur:
Sick! When I saw Paul Chadwick was the interview I did at least a double take. I've been reading Concrete forever and I don't think I've ever read an interview with Paul. I'm sure he's done them, but I just read Concrete and didn't care about any of the outside stuff. I can do that with comics... when their creators allow it (cough, cough). Glad to read this one, though. Love all the comic book interviews here. Good stuff.

Though Kinky Friedman was born in Chicago everyone knows he has the heart of a Texan. Friedman first came to notice as a musician with the Kinky Friedman and The Texas Jewboys which created satirical country music. Soon Friedman brought his satire up to a new level with his novels using a fictionalized version of himself as a private detective solving crimes in New York...

He should run again. He could use he experience from his first campaign to bolster a second one. People liked him, if he were to run again, I say there's a good chance he'd win. Don't give up Kinky!

Hey, I just found this interview. Many years ago, when the Kinkster was just getting his writing career going, he'd already reached his level of success in the music business and he was crashing with friends in New York. To Kinky, those places were not as settled as my 25th floor apartment, with a balcony over the West Side, so he asked if he could spend afternoons there writing for about two weeks, while I was at work. Sure! He was the Texas Gentleman, and I am still a fan.

When South African filmmaker Richard Stanleys low budget science fiction horror film Hardware was released in the early 90s many people heralded him as the new face of the genre. That is until his second feature, Dust Devil, was released in the States to dismal reviews and returns. Though Stanleys directors cut of Dust Devil was released in many other markets around the world, after...

Once again Mr.Epstein, That is one Helluva Inteview, and I am so very glad that you had the opportunity (Jeaous, Thank You..biggrin )

I just got the 5 disc Boxset of DUST DEVIL, and I will tell ya....this director may be forgotten when w go to think of good fliks, as I am still shocked by the amount of fols I meet who have never seen, let alone heard of, HARDWARE.
Again, we are treated to a desolate story in one of the most desolate places, The Outback...The character of The Dust Devil, and the complicate Magick, that I may add is right on the money when it comes to JuJu, especially when something like a gun is seen close to useless.
I have recommended this film, especially the limited Boxset, to all my members of The Abominable Apothecary, and I haven't heard anything but good things from them as well...

Once again, Thanks for the great Interview...

Film director Michael Apted is such an anomaly in Hollywood. He careens from big budget films such as The World Is Not Enough to smaller films like Enigma. But always, without fail, every seven years Apted puts together another UP film. In 1964 a group of seven year old children were interviewed about their lives and Apted was a researcher on that film. Since then...

If I didnt know better I would think David Lynch was Italian. He uses his hands to describe ideas more than anyone I have ever met. Its fascinating to watch this man communicate. He pulls out the cigarette pack, the lighter, moves the ashtray, lights the cigarette, puts the pack away the and then, once his hands are free, resumes emphasizing his words with enigmatic...

Blue Underground is such a wonderful DVD company. The company was founded by cult filmmaker William Lustig after he left Anchor Bay Entertainment. Every single time I hit their website I discover a new gem. Most recently they are pushing the foreign film, Daughters of Darkness, released in 1971 in the United States. The film is directed by Belgian filmmaker Harry Kmel and it is...

Over the past 15 years Jae Lee has become one of the most stylish and innovative comic book artists in recent memory. He burst onto the scene with a stint on Namor the Sub-Mariner and since then has worked on dozens of other books from Fantastic Four to The Sentry to his creator owned Hellshock. But recently Jae Lee has a wild time by throwing...

Wow! I've actually been a fan of Ja'e since his Namor days. Normally I'm more a fan of the writer, but I'll pretty much read anything drawn by Jae Lee. Thanks for the interview.

Pere Ubu has been below the pop culture radar since their beginning in 1975. They are a rock band but they include elements of the expressionist movement, experimental music and blues. I got to talk to the only constant member in Pere Ubus over 30 year history, band co-founder/vocalist/producer David Thomas about the new album Why I Hate Women.

Check out the official website for...

I finally got a chance to talk with Dave Foley and I just couldnt resist the chance to ask him what his favorite episodes were from both The Kids in the Hall TV show and Newsradio. Those are just two of the best comedies, in any medium, ever created. But Foley was most excited to talk about the new play hes co-directed called The Tribute....

Dave Foley has always been one of my fav sketch comedy guys.. I loved Kids in the Hall!! I wasn't supposed to watch it though, my step dad thought it was too "gay"--he was such a piece of *^&#. I loved sneaking downstairs to my step sisters room to watch!!! It was always worth getting busted too! NewsRadio, I miss like I miss John Ritter (3s Company) He was so fascinating to watch go from "pretend queer" to "typical horny male". DAVE FOLEY ROX!!! love miao!!
