I'm fostering a 10-week-old puppy for the next few days. It's unbelievable how much energy and attention this requires. I turn my back for a minute, and she's already peed on the carpet, chewed something up, and spilled something. Looking back on puppies I've had in the past, it's all coming back to me: puppies aren't fun, they're an enormous pain in the ass and...

Looks like I've got about a month before I'll need to do much with houses. At that point, I should have two vacancies: one to rent and one to sell. By the time I wrap all that up and arrange to rent out the house I'm in now, it'll be time to go live somewhere else for a while.

I'm up at 5:25. For days, I was only sleeping 2-4 hours at a time at odd intervals. Yesterday I slept 12 in a row, and I'm staying up all night today. (All of you people who have jobs are supposed to be pitying me now).
I'm going stir-crazy here in Jacksonville. At least if I was in cabin in the woods or a cave,...

i didn't have time to look through all of them, and that was the one that caught my attention the quickest. not only that, but sculpture often relies on the novelty of a concept and falls short in execution. yours, from what i can see, is finely executed and a compelling concept..
If you want a good scare, check out the new Frontline documentary: "The Jesus Factor". It goes into detail about what a religious fanatic we have for a president.
My sleep schedule is going from weird to insane. I've been awake since 1:00 am and it's now almost 8.

Sorry so long in replying to your low carb question.
There are a lot of good websites around that offer the basics.Type in low carb on google and you will find plenty of peo and con sites. Here's one that seems to cover some basics pretty well.low carb info. The low carb cafe, which you will find on googles search has a great board with many helpful people.
As for other free sources, of course there's always the library. I would always recommend Dr Atkins book, as it covers a lot of info on why low carbing works. Keep in mind it is the strictest of the low carb diets, however, especially in the induction phase, which is used to get your body over it's carb cravings. You add more carbs as you go through the diet phases.
One misconception people have is you just eat meat till you are bloated. Wrong. You eat until you are comfortably satisfied, just like any diet.
As I stated, I went on the diet for health reasons, out of necessity. It's not a fad to me, nor do I consider it a fad. Some people abuse it, as they will any diet. But the scientific reasons behind it are solid. Eat less carbs, particularly the starchy and refined carbs. You stabilize your blood sugar, causering your body to stop sending out false hunger signals. It also allows your metabolism to stabilize and act normally, thus burning more calories. The added bonus being, since you are not over-loading on carbs, your body burns more fat.It will never burn fat as long as it has a constant supply of quick burning carbs. Plus it stores any unused carbs, converting them into fat. So if you eat a no fat treat that is loaded with sugar, your body will still make fat out of it.
I don't feel any diet is perfect for everyone, but this one sure saved me and works for me. Have a great day! Tony

I've heard about that doc. I think through Moveon, but I'm not sure. I'll check it out. But I have read some stuff about that. Does it cover the whole "Bush thinks the war in Iraq is the beginning of events foretold in revelation" thing?
I took my brother to see his son run in a track meet in Iowa yesterday. Ben ran four events and did great. Track meets are always fun to me.
I'm going to have you put ME on a diet. You can be my personal trainer. Whaddya say?
Aren't you coming up soon? May, right?

Pics updated yet again. Found out how big I could make them, then replaced many of the sculpture pics with larger ones.

my school (Savannah Tech) just opened a new industrial building with all sorts of fun toys, an iron bender/scroller, plasma cutters, an oxy beveler, 20 arc and mig machines, half-a-dozen tig machines, a huge bandsaw, two 17-ton shear cutters, etc...
*drool*
if only i could be alone with them........
i really like oxy (i used to do jewelry with a smith) and the additional techniques it provides, melting, bending, light forging
i get sick of just running arc beads, but soon i'll be qualified so i can make some real money, then start my own shop

Looks like you need to roll up to Savannah and break into that place. And Savannah's good times. For a second there I thought you guys were discussing drugs: "oxy," "crack," "joint." Thats what I get for skimming.
How 'bout a pic of the piano ribs/spine/arms thing? My favorite. Is that up 'Nord? And what about a pic of that bank on the square? Did I alread ask you about that?

Yet more pics put in new folder, for those who would like a closer look. These are the only two sculptures I didn't ship up to Madison. I have a thought of perhaps using both as basis for a single, more complex sculpture.
mrsmead:
those are all steel?
i'm thoroughly impressed at the finish you managed
it looks almost like bronze
was there any casting involved?
they look so intricate and similar
i'm intrigued by bones and metal.........
nice work.

i'd love to see some in person, i'm only a couple hours away
do you have a gallery?

wow, i really like your sculpture. that's not all done with the oxy-acetylene torch though is it?

Being a mean guy seems to pay off. The rabbit woman has agreed to stay and pay on time or pay exhorbitant late fees. The check bouncer's loan people came up with a viable deal pretty fast when I started the countdown to eviction. Looks like I may be done with the hassles and able to kick back for a couple months starting in about...

One cannot deny the absolute beauty of a blued revolver, or a 1911 for that matter. The Glock is an ugly duckling, but I trust it to function 100% of the time & never worry about holster wear.

squire:
Man, sorry about the whole Doroty thing. But looks like my plans for Amsterdam could use some postponing. Student loans are fucking KILLING me. Give me another month or 2. I'll get my shit straight. We'll go. I'd come down to Jacksonville, but . . . well who the hell wants to go to Jacksonville anyway? I only have so much vacation, you know? Heh.
Went to an SG party on Saturday. Pretty much a riot after some of the awkwardness wore off, i.e. people got drunker. Check out the pics floating around. You won't be impressed.

Up late again. Something about laying tile until after midnight makes it hard to sleep.
I've had it with deadbeat tenants. Got a notice in the mail today - those people just bounced their last check. Eviction process commences tomorrow.
Another woman who treats her house like a dumpster is almost a month late, again. I think I'm gonna throw her out too, fix up...

That is good to hear....sometimes they respond to the big stick.
I think you have nailed it re: pacing....I was going through contortions on how to figure out the paces for LT and VO2M....and I havd arrived at the same conclusion re: a heart monitor. Thing is, I can't find one that has all the features I would like.....ideally a GPS unit with HR capabilites would be cool, but I can't find any in that combo.

The Garmin Forerunner is what I was referring to. If it only had an HR built in.....otherwise, I have to dress up as Batman to go running, what with an HR monitor,, GPS, and of course an iPod for listening to audio books while puttng the mileage down.....
HIT has some appeal to me as well...the amount of time I am spending on fitness is getting a bit much, and I keep thinking there has to be a better way.....got any recommendaitons along that line?

I couldn't help but check out the thread that 40spokes was talking about. Looks like you're at it again, eh? Good for you. I wonder if those people really realize who they are messing with? Jesus . . . I'm just glad you're on my team. If you ever get zotted I'll buy you a new membership.
