"When I left Paris in order to visit Greece, I simply wanted to satisfy the passion I felt in my youth for the most famous lands of antiquity. I could taste in advance the pleasure of crossing this famous and beautiful region with Homer and Herodotus in my hands. At last I was promising myself a state of permanent intoxication in a land where the smallest rock appears to the imagination to be inhabited by gods and heroes."
Comte de Choiseul-Gouffier, 1782

I did not always want to be a Classasist. I kind of fell into it, only a few years ago.
I have, however, always loved this statue. I fell in love with it a long time ago, before I knew what it was. I saw it, in the flesh, at the Louvre, before I knew what it was. Now I know that it's the Nike of Samothrace (or the Winged Victory of Samothrace, whichever your prefer).

I have found that, over the past years, a little bit funny, that this Nike has always been in my mind, since I was little, and yet it has taken me this long to discover it.

I rencently entered an essay competition with an essay I am extreemly proud of, but I know that I have no chance of winning with it. I wonder why I did enter that essay when I could have entered an equally good one that could actually have some chance of winning.

The answer to that is also the answer to why I want to be a Classasist.

But, as yet, I can't articulate that answer. Just like you can never draw flame in the air, you can never articulate fire in your heart.

Hey there!

Long time, no talk.

My fault entirely. I've been going through a more-depressed-than-usual phase and neglecting everything, even the things I enjoy.

Hope you're doing okay.
