So i tried to talk to a few people about this but they didn't seem to care... so i'm venting... sorry
So i faced my fear today.... it beat me.
I went to the eye doctor. Now that doesn't sound that bad but with my medical histroy i hate the optomitrist like most hate dentist. Its not the sound of a drill but the could steal of a chin rest that makes my blood preasure go through the roof.
I started out but just haveing my vision checked. that comes with a glocoma reading now days and i knew that would be high... it was the highest my doctor had seen in his carear so he sent me over to the specialist. He waited by his receptionist untill they "fit me in" By this time i was going in to panic mode running the worse case sinarios through my head.... I came to the decission everything would be fine because the worst that could happen is schedualing surgery.
I was wrong
there is chance i not only have glacoma in my right eye (the one thats blind and i only worry about cause i don't want a glass eye) but i may have it in my "good" eye my left one... now with medication and rutien surgerys i should be ok but ther is a greater then zero chance i'll be blind completely by the time i'm 40. I keep trying to tell myself it was a fluck and i'll be fine. that stress and alot of eye drops just raised the presure... but i'm scared.
Its a fear i've been avoiding most of my life but i think its backed me in to a corner.
I keep asking my self whats the point of an art degree if i can't see... whats the point of spending my life trying to understand form and beauty if i'm going to loose the ability to see it in others eyes...
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take care of your vision, get checked for glacoma once or twice before your 50, get checked for diabeties, get checked just to know what could come... Please.

Do as much work as you can with your eyes now...
I hope it all turns out ok.
I've had cataract surgery in each eye, 14 years ago, and retinal deattachments in both eyes in 1998. And in all cases my vision has been restored. I've lost a little peripheral vision, but not enough to affect my vision or driving. Still wear eye glasses to drive, but don't need any correction to read. I'll be 60 years old this year.
