It's funny with my friends I am definately the Father like Jibaili , with my immediate family I am the one who always says his mind no matter what the consequesnces, lots of fun at family picnics. With my wifes family I am the rebel, drink to much, have tattoos refuse to go to church, thinks Hillary clinton is not the second coming of christ.

my grandfather cooked completely from memory and improvisation, making these HUGE meals of all kinds of flavors that would somehow... inexplicably... meld together into everything that was comforting and wonderful.

i, however, have only been able to accomplish a few baking techniques... but i know exactly what you mean when you speak of the preparation and total experience of cooking.

you should also check out a film called 'La Grande Bouffet'.
not sure of its availabilty on DVD or video,worth hunting down though, its a classic.
