I had nothing to do tonight, so I thought I would return to the cafe that Joanna took me to on Friday night. There was a waitress there who was dreadfully cute. Joanna said she looked like a superhero - like Wonder Woman or something. I said that she looked nothing like Wonder Woman - maybe like Mary Marvel, though. Then I had to explain...

Didn't know who Mary Marvel is?

What is the country coming to?

Keep on trying, I say. maybe become a regular?

Marvel Universe appendix although I'd prefer a DC version...

I think the conservatives may have gone too far. Again.

The other day, I saw a billboard that said, "'A Woman's Right to Choose' Vs. A Baby's Right to Live." At first, I thought it was sort of a silly advertisement. It doesn't say why those two ideas would be in opposition, nor does it provide any convincing arguement for either side. Then I remembered...

So I finally finished moving and furnishing. I never got the sofa-bed to my apartment. You probably know the old saying, "Sleeping on a bed that doesn't turn into anything is no way to live," but there's another lesser-known old saying that goes, "A sofa launched out the back of a car won't get you all the way to New York." Those are wise words,...

All right, so that last entry may have been premature. I wrote it on my way out the door, after my parents warned me that it may take weeks to get an appointment for the cable company to set up the Internet connection in my apartment. Since then, I have called them and made an appointment to get it connected on Tuesday. I would have...

Thanks for coming out on Saturday, even though you had to get out of there fairly early!!! wink It was really great seeing you again (since I only think I briefly met you at Open Call). I had a really great time!! smile

So I'm sure that in the days to come, people will be asking, "Hey! Whatever happened to Syd?" Well, I've recently moved, and this is going to be a hectic time. I won't have Internet access for who-knows-how-long except at work, and that may mean that Suicide Girls will fall by the wayside for a bit. You see, in order to sign onto Suicide Girls,...

Good news for fans of my blogs or of large round numbers! My LiveJournal has reached its 500th entry/5th year anniversary. Stop by to celebrate or to mourn for all the jokes that died there these past five years.

Speaking of changing the subject, I can't be the only one who noticed this, but from Lana Lang to Lois Lane to Linda Lee, all of...

Maybe Kent could alter the letters -- kinda like Johnny Depp did once him and Ryder split. His tattoo said "Winona Forever" but he later got it altered to say "Wino Forever"

biggrin

And yeah, I can see Lex doing something with some odd color of Kryptonite, which makes Superman want to "experiment" some late night...

Last night, I went to the Rent Party & Silent Auction at the Center for Anti-Violence Education, because I figure if there's one thing I'm against, it's violence. And I know I'm against Grant Morrison's "New X-Men," so it stands to reason that I am against one thing and must therefore also be against violence. QED.

I donated $20 (I know, big spender...) and proceeded...

Thanks for going to the benefit! I was tied up (and not in a good way) and couldn't make it.

What did you pick up at the comic book store? I got out for the Free comic book day and nabbed graphic novel #13 of Love and Rockets for $5 biggrin Plus bought my first actual comic in a while -- Countdown to Infinite Crisis. That...was one mindbender! Yet another reason why DC still rules for me.
amorpheus:
Oh, yes, some love for DC. Aside from whatever free comics they were giving away (I haven't checked yet if there was anything remotely readable in that stack) I got the new Eve of Destruction trade and as many issues of Peter David's "Supergirl" as I could find. I can't tell you why I'm suddenly into Supergirl, but I can't stop reading it. I guess I'm another heroine addict.

I'm sorry for that last joke... But, really, that series is like heroin, except instead of injecting a drug into your arm, you read some comics.

Ah, life in the fast-paced, ever-changing world of architecture! I was in the office until nine o'clock tonight drawing a bank. Why did I have to put in twelve hours to draw a bank? Well, you see, the project was due today, and I had already finished the banks that I had to draw, so I was helping a coworker who was not yet done...

This weekend, I played a variation on the board game "Guess Who?" that Mike had thought up. You see, it makes the game much more interesting if, instead of the traditional version in which you ask about objective distinguishing features ("Is your character a man?" "Does your character have facial hair?" "Is your character wearing a hat?"), you ask about what the character is really...

Cable networks continue to get narrower in their scope. I was aware of some channels aimed at women - Lifetime and Oxygen, for example - but the other day, I was flipping around the channels and found out that NBC has apparently started their own - Ms. NBC. But as I watched the programming, it seems that this channel is aimed at women who love...
