I've been tagged!

At first I was distressed by this, but I realize that this will help the scientists track my migration patterns.

Anyway, if you haven't seen this thing, how it works is someone names you in a journal and then you have to write twenty facts about yourself. These facts being interesting is entirely optional.

1. Right now, not having started thinking of them, I do not think that there are twenty things you don't already know about me.

2. The theatre company that I founded to perform my plays still hasn't officially broken up, but every year it seems less likely that I'll call Marvin up to get everyone back together.

3. Lately, I've been watching "The X-Files," having recently discovered that they're rerunning it late nights on TNT. I had forgotten how enjoyable that show really was.

4. After watching a few episodes, I went online to read some of Emily's early journal entries, back when they came pre-packaged with X-Files stuff. I felt really guilty about that. Apart from forming attachments to people I don't really know, I have a tendency to find comfort in nostalgia. That's why it's a good thing that I have kept a journal for so long. Any time I start to live in the past, I can go back and see how miserable I really was then.

5. I love the Twilight Zone. People never talk about them as much, but I like the really comical, cartoonish episodes as much as the dark, horrific ones.

6. Many of the things I love have elements that are described as "like a soap opera," but I don't like any soap opera.

7. I think folie a deux is the most romantic mental illness or personality disorder, moreso even than codependency.

8. I used to think of myself as a romantic, but feared that I was just making excuses for being an unbelievable idiot and an even more unbelievable pussy.

9. I love punks. I hang out with punks and sometimes I like to be mistaken for a punk, but I never claim to be a punk, because I think they kick you out of their club if they find out you own any John Denver records.

10. I consider myself an anti-solipsist. I think that when other people aren't around, I no longer exist. That's why when I'm alone I never get anything accomplished and nobody hears from me for a very long time.

11. I don't understand the appeal of California.

12. I also don't understand the appeal of Jay Leno.

13. I can't imagine anyone reading this far into the list, yet I continue typing.

14. When I see "LOL," I imagine that the person actually is laughing out loud. This makes half of the people on the Internet sound like supervillains.

15. People who think they know what they're talking about frighten me.

16. Some people think I'm living a double life. Actually, I'm hardly living a single life.

17. I try to steer clear of too much self-reference in things like this, but I think it says something about me that it's been over an hour and I'm still not done with this.

18. My apartment flooded earlier this week. People asked me how it happened, and I told them, "It was the damnedest thing. Water fell right out of the sky! Can you believe that?"

19. Self-insertion sounds vaguely sexual to me. "I'm going to stick my Mary Sue right in your fanfic!" Oh yeah!

20. I don't think there's anything wrong with ambivalence.

isn't self-reference the point of "20 things you didn't know about me"?
