I have been doing a lot better today on all fronts, both physical and psychological health. The time has been one of the most important factors in this change, as well as the realization that what other were perceiving was closer to the truth than my own clouded vision of how things really are. It seems there are impossible tasks, and to try and tackle them is to take on the mantle of Sisyphus. This is problemitized further when one particularizes the grail in any object; then the thing itself becomes more important than the quest. Of course I learn these things (or rather remember them)the hardest way possible. The door that was held wide for too long is now all but shut for that particular possibility.
Last night I didnt sleep well, even on a triple dose of NiQuil. Congestion and the neighbor waking to hip-hop at 8-am wasnt helpful. I did receive my camera in the mail, it is in really good shape, now it is time to accessorize, I will be getting a tripod soon, perhaps an extra battery and charger and a telephoto and a wide angle lens. The firewire cable already cost too much, and DV tapes arent cheep. Luckily for my purposes now, I can use the same tape over for a while. This camera will certainly suffice while I learn how to shoot, I may actually be filming a local bluegrass band latter this year, in March probably.
As for this weekend, which commences at 6-p.m., I am looking forward to relaxing and catching up on work. I have one paper to write, some chapters to outline, an essay to complete for Jason and a few other things that need to be tended to. I have laid off the Absinth as of late, and havent really been boozing, partially due to depression, partly due to being sick. I may be spending some time up, so I may have to bring the coffee machine into the office.
Subletting my apartment for the rest of the lease and moving into a cheeper place with a roommate. I will loose some of my freedoms, but the money saved should be worth it. Besides I am only in Oxford for a year and a half now. As mundane as all this entry is, it is foundational of a movement, a strategy of constant change in my environment, which will hopefully cause a similar change in me. The camera will provide a new creative outlet that I have been lacking for some time, and the other changes also support my overall project to move about this rock more, as well as complete significant projects. The quest will continue, but with a gaze beyond what was all too apparent. So there you have it, my blog for February 10, 2005.
