Getting more used to using Apple Pages. This was a good weekend, it saw a visit from one of my best friends, the mathematician Eric. We had a few discussions about travel and toys, travel to Europe and toys such as computers and cameras. We also discussed the future of Memengineer. I am assembling a board of directors for it, one of which I am hoping will be him. We all need to learn a few things, but I think that we can do exactly what we are setting out to do given a bit of time and work.
This month sees my birthday on Superbowl sunday, another trip around the sun has past and another begins. I remember when I first started to learn about satanism back in the 1980s when Pat Robertson declared for a few weeks at least, that Washington Court House Ohio was a global Satanic nexus. Really it was just a bunch of high school girls screwing around in the woods and perhaps some other ignorant bastards killing dogs in an abandoned farmhouse. But what Mr. Robertson did was get me to ask questions, about what Satanism really is about, if one can say really. Back in those days I was just learning what it meant to be Asatru, I had already given up on the Judeo-Christian religious aesthetic, but I was curious about Satanism. I read the Satanic Bible, I remember Brandson buying one in a bookstore in Canada on a Boy Scout Trip, hiding it from the leaders. I was already critical enough then to realize LaVey for the watered down Nietzschean rip off that he was, later I would come to place him closer to Ayn Rand and her brand of egoistic non-sense than to Nietzsches philosophy. But for Satanists and your own birthday becomes the highest holiday! What a way to grab 16 year old kids, an affirmation of narcissism.
It amazes me how many undergraduates I meet are just realizing their own divinity in a very Satanic way, and how many of them get stuck there. Thus the need for more classes on management. You really get the kick in the balls when they begin to examine how advertising works, how people are manipulated by the powers that be, and instead of wanting to expose it to everyone so that a critical discourse may emerge, these kids want to learn how to use it on others, on their peers. Like using NLP to simply quit smoking and getting laid... (well that may be all NLP is good for).
Hows that for a rant today? I plan on up-dating some of my on-line personae and saving some cash to begin to build my audio-visual studio... I still need a creative outlet and my current situation had begun to afford me that. Also I am wish to get into my further graduate education, I am really looking forward to a life in communications research/production/education. Wish me luck.
