Well, I have been readjusting to life in oxford. It has been pretty much what I expected, and I am more or less disappointed in the digressions this place seems to undergo every year. There are serious problems with this place. Interestingly most of them have nothing to do with the institution of the University itself, but rather the self-imposed normalization processes that the undergraduates take upon themselves. I am pleased with my department thus far. I decided today to take the International Media course over the Media Criticism Course. The Media Criticism course seems really close to my Historical Methods of Media Criticism Course (which I have to take), so I am opting to take the International Media course. It looks as if my favorite class will be Cultural and Media Theory; the most philosophical of my classes.
Today I received the Derrida movie in the mail. I really like this piece, if anyone has the time or the attention they should watch it. Derrida is a fascinating mind, a living great, and is too often overlooked amongst youthful intelligentsia for more inflammatory orators.
Saturday I ran into an old acquaintance, Laura; however at the time I could not recall her name for the life of me. I just sent her e-mail last night; I certainly hope she is open for meeting again, and having a proper conversation.
Talked to Ina today, that is always good...
