How do you tell two particles of negative and positive energy in the middle of a thunderstorm not to collide, and how do you blame the lightning that cracks through the sky from their contact? How do you convince a magnet not to be attracted to steel, or persuade a hummingbird that the nectar it desires is not sweet? How do you push away all that which your arms involuntarily pull close, or reject a taste still lingering in your mouth? When does the impending rain listen to your plans of a Sunday picnic, or the sun heed your requests for 10 more minutes of light as it sets in the distance? How do you hold onto that dream you were having that you never wanted to end once you realize you're dreaming? How do you convince a monk not to pray, a dervish not to whirl, or a Krishna to not rejoice? What must be done to save the orchid from death after that first glorious bloom? How do you tell a dragonfly not to flap its wings amidst a gust of wind from the south, or convince a tiger fish that it is not beautiful? How do you separate the beauty from Rhone, and leave behind an empty canvas? How do you accomplish joy and not risk yourself to pain, or witness to god and not have sinned? What is the formula for right without wrong, or love without wanting? When did we accomplish our tasks if there is so much yet to be done? How do you blame a child for being born, or protect everything you hold dear from that which you can not predict? How do you argue with a mountain for obstructing your path, or separate the salt from the sea? How do you tell your heart to love that which your eyes desire, or your mind to conform to ideals that are not your own? How do you create yourself in someones eyes to reflect your inner self, and not uncover the secrets only they can discover? How do you put out the flames in the black rock, and not incinerate yourself in the process?
