I see lots of people putting poems on here so I decided to! This is one I wrote for my little boy Mykel.

Enjoy

The floor

You remember the floor
A floor so sober it was painful
The floor that kept you white
That held you while you cried
The floor that gave birth to your only son
Left to live a life of sins he would never know about
The floor that kept your secrets
The white tiles that remembered your name
The small cupboards that would never forget what they saw
Then there was the floor
The floor where it all happened
Where your life ended and his began
Where lovers cried and Christians smiled
The floor that brought you back
Back to the kitchen where it laid
Where many breakfasts had been prepared
Not for you but for him
No short of six before the floor left them
Before they left the floor
The floor that held your virginity between its cracks
The floor that led you to him
Blue against white
The floor never smiled
It only weeps for your sanity
Theres more to the floor then meets the eye
The stories it could tell but never would
It let you cry when you needed to scream
The floor that named him Mykel
The name the cupboards would regret
The floor embraced as you had
As it always would while silent
And away it went
Knowing always the floor would always love you
And even more so him
You see it from time to time
In other peoples homes
The floor is called other things now
The floor we just had redone
The floor I fell on
But yours will always be the floor that kept your secrets
And you prayed it would always stay that way
The floor you trusted
Such a warm embrace for linoleum
Who would have thought it could love you as much as it did?
The floor needed you as much as you needed it
But neither one of you could bear to say it
The floor were maidens walked plump with the juices of their lovers
The floor that witnessed sunrises warmer than any other
That taught children how to walk
And let men drink
Hearing only laughter to keep it grounded
The floor was old and full of wisdom
Ready and willing if only asked
Ready to keep you safe
Safe from the blanket that left you without it
To watch over Mykel as he played
As he played on the tiles that remembered your name
As he played in the cupboards that would never forget what they say
And even the floor that kept your secrets
The floor would not judge you as you did it
It knew you better than that
It knew the driver that brought you to it
That floor loved you like no other
It held your hand while you pushed life into your virgin veins
While it wasted the day on a lip that told lies
But the floor didnt care
It wanted more for you
More than it could give you
More than you were willing to take from it
The floor loved you as you loved it
It was loyal
And it still, to this day
Has not told your secret
It carries a burden now
Your burden
A burden with a name
Mykel.
