Well, the snow has come to stay, it seems.
It snowed in earnest for a night and a day, so now there is a thick snow cover everywhere. Some 20 cm or so.. And the air has gotten more cold, so it seems the snow will not melt in a hurry. It's not too cold, either. Just a pleasant -5 degrees centigrade.
I had a dentist's appointment this morning. I could think several things I would like to have done rather than have my teeth drilled, but a filling had come loose from one of my molars and it hurt like hell. So better to be done with it. It feels really annoying to have half your face all numb and swollen.. luckily the local anesthesia was so light that I could still use my face muscles and tongue.. otherwise my speech would have been pretty much incomrehensible a few hours after the ordeal.. Not a welcome side-effect when you work as a clerk in a store..
It's surprisingly difficult trying to drink normally from a cup, when your lip feels swollen and numb... but tea helps. Tea always helps.
I hope I won't get sick.. many of my friends have had nasty flus recently and now my own throat hurts.
And as if that was not annoying enough, the firewall hub here at work has ceased to cooperate. If I disconnect the whole thing from between the computer and the ADSL modem, I'll get the Net to work, but without the firewall device, our Virtual Private Network doesn't work, which means no connection to our stockpile database or cash register server... and so, I'll have to write all the stupid receipts by hand and punch them into the database later, when the thing decides to work.
And even more annoying is, that I've been waiting for the damn repairman to come down and have a look at the device for good four hours now, and I'm getting pretty certain he isn't going to show up today, which means I'll have to go through the same shit tomorrow. This is really getting on my nerves.
It's hard to keep smiling to customers when you feel like throwing things...
