Hello SG land. How's it going? I know I haven't been on the site in awhile. Sorry about that. It's just that I've been busy w/ work & when I get home I'm just plain tired. I hope everyone is doing fine. Work is a blast. It's like the good ol' days just w/o all the drama. My old boss has actually lightened up. I don't know why but hey, I'm not gonna complain.
I'm kinda tired now, so I can't really think of anything to blog about. Maybe after a full night's of rest I'll be able to think of more to say.

Taking this off the soccer board....

Yes, back when the team was the Dallas Burn, they played in the Cotton Bowl. It was a pretty nice place for soccer, with a great surface an locker rooms large enough for five a side games. One year, they played at Dragon Stadium, which is like heaven for a high school football players, but terrible for a pro soccer team. HSG realized the mistake and moved back to the Cotton Bowl while the new stadium was being built.

My real objection is the plastic turf. Toronto has the SSS, but still plays on plastic. What's up with Hoser FC?

Hopefully, Houston and DC will get new stadiums.

Dragon Stadium was a disaster all around. Granted, if the team had been winning, it would have been much more tolerable, but it was the worst team in Dallas history. There was never a question that beer would not be sold in the stadium, but the school district would say one thing, then do another. First, they said we could tail gate in the parking lot, and they they changed their minds. Then we could again, if we used opaque cups. then we could not. The team said they would put in a beer garden for us, and that was all right, and then it was not. At that point, HSG got in contact with a man who owned land next to the stadium, who was kind enough to let the team clear an area for us to tailgate in.

It was a terrible year, and the team lost so many fans they moved back to the Cotton Bowl next year. Also, Fair Park wondered why they had lost millions of dollars, and made a better deal with HSG.

The problem with PHP is easily solved. Stick around after the game for awhile. Saturday night tailgates last until midnight or later. The biggest problem was that small road you had to take until you hit the tollway. The tollway nows goes all the way to Main Street.

I 45 to Dallas, then the Texas 75 North, then I 635 West, then the tollway north, then Main Street, and then you are there.

The problem in Houston is that the agreement with the Toyota Center is that the city will not fund any competitive arena, and a soccer stadium would compete for concerts. Private financing is very difficult to arrange. The opposition in places like Sugar Land is already up and running. The MLS really wants to see some progress.
