I'm more excited than I probably should be..

I've had the new Player Handbook in my own hands for just a little over a week and have probably read it cover to cover a half dozen times already. Partly due to the fact since I've not really had a chance to play since 3.5, only played a short campaign in 4E as things fell apart after a couple months, and partly due to taking over the helm as the DM again.

Tomorrow will be the first sit down with some folks I know, all of whom have very little experience with any kind of table top roleplaying game, to go over basic rules and character creations. If there is time, we'll even run through a small little encounter/quest chain I threw together in hopes to be able to hammer some of the rules home.

There will be 5 players in total, three of which already know what they will be luckily: an Elven Wizard, a Dragonborn Fighter, and a Human Cleric. Couldn't get much more stereotypical, but whatever haha

To help the new players along I slapped together a token chart real quick. Even though 5E doesn't concern itself with using grid maps and positioning and being Bloodied at all like 4E did, I think it may be helpful for them to have visual clues to such things. I found, and followed a guide (http://kassoon.com/dnd/cheap-miniatures) for the most part. Took the suggestion of a friend to add the big blood drops to make sure the message definitely got across when ya flipped your character token over. That being "you're about to die." :)

The top row are the aforementioned character tokens for the three players who know what they want to be, the rest are a hodgepodge for the other two to choose from.

I'm too damn excited.
