I've been a bit of a bah humbug about holidays the last few years. Costumes are a pain in the ass to come up with and are generally uncomfortable, pumpkins are messy and a pain in the butt. Thanksgiving is great, if you've got family to visit with and who cooks. Christmas, well, that's been involving breakups or death in the family for the last...

Tonight's been a really surreal night.

I approach the ticket counter and ask for one ticket. The guy behind the counter asks "Student?" I smirk, trying not to laugh out loud. "No..." I feel a soft hand on my shoulder, I turn around and the adorable girl who'd let me go ahead in line says "It's good to go to the movies by yourself!" We...

Ah well. Keep monday the 13th open, yo! wink

Also I just checked out SF0.org and I'm not sure what to do? It seems to be for Bay Area folk only?

I feel the need to go wallow in mud in search of a pumpkin this weekend. Any takers?

+1 Since we're still unpacking though, I think I'll probably get my punkin at Wal-Mart. There's not a whole lot of other choices here. I've got lots of room for a year round garden here though so I'll be planting some seeds next summer for our own pumpkins.

looks like we're going tomorrow morning, they are picking me up around 9 then over to cliff's then on route to the punkin patch!

if you wanna come too lemme know! love you!

Been home sick for the last couple days due to some inner-ear infection that's left me too dizzy to be terrifically functional. Looks like there's not much to do for it aside from copious napping and perhaps a trip to the acupuncturist tomorrow.
On the good news side, it looks like there's a couple more conferences that may be in my future already. That's pretty...

It's funny, there's such a stereotype about engineers not being romantics and guys in general not being in touch with their emotional side. But after spending a week having those "getting to know you" conversations with dozens of (mostly male) engineers, I gotta say, the stereotype is wholly without merit. These guys seem to be the most devoted and affectionate bunch of husbands and fathers...

Damned if I don't still chuckle every time I see your location. I thought that would get old or at least not-particularly-amusing-anymore.
I'm referring to the ski season in the West in general. Georgia had one ski slope, Sky Valley, but thanks to global warming, I don't know if they ever get enough snow to do anything. North Carolina is probably the closest one that has any snow at all, and most east coasters of course go farther north to Vermont or PA. I figure if I have to fly, I might as well go out West where the mountains are higher and the snow is deeper, and for that matter, the resorts are cooler.
I hear you on the romance thing.

I'm so very intensely happy right now. This week has gone so marvelously well, despite a presentation that didn't go quite as smoothly as I'd hoped. These folks are like family. A big, dirty, incestuous family. Gawd luv 'em. I'm just brimming over with so much happiness and love right now I just don't know what to do with myself. So I'll just go to...

I am not in portland, i am in Corvallis for now. We are buying closer to Portland, but that will be a year or two. Only an hour away though.

Just saw US vs. John Lennon, holy crap. A lot to think about, even as it pertains to my own direction. That and the articles about the reaction of the Amish families to what happened there recently. I can't really even begin to describe the thought process around that without sounding horrendously hokey. A couple of areas of consternation in my existence are kind of...

Not a rollercoaster. It's just like, throw those emoticons in a pot and stir em around and it's what I'd be sendin yer way. Yep. Lil bit a grins, a smidge o kisses, couple of happy scream/tongue sticking out type things- all whipped up together.

It's the 4th, which means 5 more days till I head for Montreal. People keep wishing me luck on my presentation at work. I'm at once excited and wanna puke a little. It's a good thing it's a rarity that those two sensations cross. Xmas morning would be a wholly different sort of affair if that happened everytime someone got excited.

In the meanwhile I'm...
