Fall is finally here! Woo-HAA!!! I can't tell you how excited I am to be able to sleep with the windows open. A/C is all well and good but, there ain't nothing like "fresh" New York air.

Weekend was great. A friend came in from Jersey and we navigated the city. Damn rain knocked out the 1, 2, 3 and 9 which was my lifeline...

Thanks for your insights. I will be moving to my own place in November, and until then I am just biting the bullet and preserving the friendships...

You're welcome. Your own place, huh? I'll look for my personal invite come November, then... wink

So, the reaction to the RNC finally affected me personally and a little close to home last night. They closed off a portion of the street I live on near Union Square due to a protest. Must have been impromptu as they chose a strange place for it. Anyway, they wouldn't let me into a block radius of my damned apartment so I had to...

So what were you doing in MD?

altarboy:
Ah, yes, MD. I suppose it's time for another journal entry but, to answer your question...

I was visiting the in-laws. They're moving by the end of the year and are cleaning house. Went down to help with a yard sale. Added a few things of my own. In total, the net was close to $1300. Impressive by any standards of yard saledom AND on a holiday weekend to boot...

Beyond that, swam a little, hung a little, ate a lot. All in all a nice time and we made it back to NYC in record time despite a late start due to car "troubles"...

I was going to write something cerebral and witty but decided to edit some of my profile instead. I just have too much work to do today. It is funny, though, that with the boss out of town you'd think I'd feel more relaxed yet can't seem to shake the feeling that there's so much to be done...

*sigh*

I need to edit my profile too! And clean my apartment. And pay my bills.....
Yes, I DO love the beach in the winter! Also the fall and early spring. In my last job, my bosses had a beach house in Bethany, DE and I always used to use it over Thanksgiving and Christmas. Snow on the beach, with the blue gray ocean and the vast expanse of sky painted in washed out watercolors, you just can't beat the beauty of it...

Okay. I suck. I couldn't get myself motivated to go to the SGNY meet and greet last night. I truly wanted to go and finally get to meet luckyP. Oh, well. Maybe one day... frown
luckyp:
Next time! Or maybe even before that. I go out frequently during the week, often w/ other SG members. Are you interested?

altarboy:
I definitely would be. I'll send you a more explanatory e-mail...

I had a sad realization today. Just now, actually. We've had a dog since it was a puppy that we got back in the early part of 2001. It'd been fine having him around up until my son was born in late 2002 when, as you'd imagine, he kind of took the backseat in the attention department. The change was not so immediate but he...

That's a sad story. I understand that hollow feeling of not having said goodbye. Two days before I moved away for grad school, my cat got sick and I took her to the vet. They kept her there and I had to move to start school. I never saw her again; she never recovered. She died two weeks later, at the vet's. I never really got to say goodbye to her; I really thought she would get well. Her death shook my world all the more b/c I had no closure. Although my sister was able to pick up her body from the vet and I came home to bury her in my parent's backyard...
Anyway, while I'm sure your dog misses you, it sounds like he's better off as an "only child" in his new home and is probably really happy! Can you go visit the dog at his new home, perhaps when your son is old enough to play with him?

Well, my last vacation of the summer is over and it's back to the grind of work and the big city. The major plus of it, though, is that the army-navy store on the corner got in the latest digi-camo gear. Not quite sure how this stuff is supposed to work in the field for the soldiers but it looks kinda cool as a fashion...

At the behest of luckyP I figured I'd better get some words off here...

I'm at work, stealing time because I have so much fucking stufff to do. On top of it all this weekend looks to hold no excessive periods of enjoyment and relaxation. Construction is being done next week and this is the last opportunity to move shit around. THEN, there's the moving...
