I have this friend. He's been seeing this girl for almost a month now. He thinks she's a pretty cool chick and he's pretty sure that she thinks he's pretty cool too. He's asured me that he's not in love because he doesn't think that someone can fall in love that quick but he's really into this chick.

He tends to go on and on about her sometimes. He says she amazing. He says he's had so much fun with her that everything else in the world seems dull in comparison. He told me that she's the kind of girl that he can just hang out with and be himself. I wish I could just tell him to shut-up about her sometimes but I can't because he just sounds so happy. The poor guy, he's got himself one hell of a crush.

The problem is that this girl is going to be leaving in about 2 months, somewhere down south I think he said. He's trying to be realistic about the whole thing. He says he's just going to enjoy the time they have together and deal with things as they happen. He told me that he'll be fine but I know when this chick leaves he's gonna be down in the dumps. Is there anyway for him to go on seeing this girl and not end up in a funk when she skips town?

I asked him "Why don't you try and convince her to stay?" He started going on and on about free spirits and how he couldn't ask her to do something like that. I just kinda block him out when he starts talking crazy like that. So I said "Why not go with her?" He said as much as he'd like to he just doesn't think that would be a good idea. "Sucks to be you then." I said and he just kinda nodded his head.

I know he'll be alright though.

Yeah, sucks to be in that situation. Being realistic, if she is leaving, he's screwed, and had better start looking around again. Continuing to see her when she comes into town is not likely going to allow them the time to build a solid relationship, and he'll be squandering his time by holding onto it. That is, unless, he moves there, or the other way around. But yeah, it's been a month.

Anyway, unwarranted advice from a stranger. That's what you get from havin' a journal, though, and it was really just an excuse to use the word "squandering" again anyway.

man if i had a friend in that situation i would tell him to be happy he met the girl and that he has one awesome sister who will try and take his mind off of that girl after she leaves and who would be pissed if he went south with her but would totally respect that decision, it's hard being a friend like that huh?
