I finally got Return of the King Extended edition today! I couldn't stop myself, I was going to wait until tomorrow night to watch it with my family, but I couldn't wait...The Mouth of Sauron is by far the coolest character in the history of film!
When one of your friends dies, and another is getting married...you really start to feel grown up...Luckily none of them have kids yet, but it's only a matter of time, and at that point I think I will probably feel...old...freakin' kids...

Obviously, death is unavoidable, but you can fight marriage as long as you like. I'm a case in point. I was engaged once but it didn't work out and I'm glad I didn't take the easy way out and just get married. No compromise, no retreat. Her & I fought all the time, but it was safe. We had a house, a car, cats, all the "stuff" a long-term relationship picks up along the way. In the end though we didn't get along or communicate and an unknown future looked better that the known relationship filled with fighting and acrimony.

Sorry to hear about you losing your friend recently. That's how all this TV talk "hits home," doesn't it? Nothing stops you from appreciating the time you hung out, though, even if you simultaneously feel dubious about why he was killed.
