On a rainy day in Manhattan I went to the Chelsea Market. 17th and something...can't quite remember, I stumbled upon it. It's small but decent enough to walk through. Good coffee and some tasty treats. The pastry shop with the pink sign (I think the name starts with an "E", it's next to Fat Witch bakery) has the most amazing sugar cookies. Fat Witch has some tasty brownies, they also give out samples, which are rich enough to last a while.
