I had an odd New Year's Eve.

Normally, I don't go out, but this time I decided I would go up to San Francisco and see some bands at Slim's. Unfortunately, the show sold out so....I wandered down to the Ferry Building to watch all the people gathering for the fire works display at midnight. It was raining off and on so it wasn't the ideal conditions for the display.

Eventually, I decided to go home, because I was getting tired and the weather was yucky.

I was doing all my traveling via train and bus so I was able to engage in serious people watching. The folks on the Muni buses seemed pretty quiet but when I got on BART to go home there were a few rowdy types making a lot of noise. There was a pretty heavy police presence ensuring that things weren't going to get out of hand. I got off in Milbrae and tried to catch a Caltrain south but discovered that the next one would be at 12:30 am and it was 10:15 pm! I ended taking a bus and a taxi back to Mt. View to retrieve my car....

It was a bummer that I couldn't see the show at Slim's...on the other hand I got some serious navel gazing and people watching time and that's sometimes a good thing....
