I went to see an open mike night in Exeter...and the particular artist I wanted to see ended up not playing! Oh well, it was a nice trip out and back...

Onwards and upwards!!

Just came back from the Underworld in Camden. Had a seafood curry at the World's End Pub before going to see The Avengers, The Briefs, and The Vibrators. It was good, noisy high energy gig!

Yes, stinky! And the sand is more like clay, so thick it sometimes forms itself into what looks like rocks but turns to slime in your hand. I didn't go swimming because it was winter and the beaches were closed; the only way we could get to the shore is by asking some soldiers at a checkpoint very very nicely. I hear the water is good for your health though.

Thanks for the compliment on my pictures!

Anyone use Skype out there? I installed it last week and set the client up for Skype Me mode so that random people can contact me. So far, I've had several contacts from Eastern Europeans and a couple from Africa...it's kind of bizarre but fun....

Hey thanks for the birthday wishes.
My band is called The Shakes at the moment but if you can think of a better name am sure we will consider it. We play kind of popular indie stuff but fairly heavy for indie. Hate to make the comparisson but Arctic monkeys meet libertines.

SGUK it seems you have to ask for permission to go to the bathroom let alone on holiday and trying to get in is difficult to the extreme. All I was suggesting was a public UK discussion group and they wouldn't countenance it at all. Crap. You have to become friends with them is it to vet the applicants or to make them imprtant and show they have a lot of friends. Obviously this isnt true of all of the member just a select few with the time to reply to a million and one people.
Anyway. If we play you welcome to come along.
Cheers Zeb smile

I'm back in the UK. I got back Sunday morning and spent the usual leisurely 2 to 3 hours getting from Heathrow to Redhill via bus/train/taxi...while recovering from jet-lag. I also managed to catch a cold this time, so I'm fighting that and the jet-lag. Fortunately, I don't have a job anymore so I don't have to get up for work!

I rebuilt my laptop...

My current stable-

Aprilia RSV1000 Tuono
Yamaha DT200WR
Yamaha TZR125R

The DT's currently unregistered and therefore purely for off-road use as I havent got any documentation to prove it was imported correctly frown mad

The TZR-R is an Italian import that I bought as a wreck and am rebuilding as a winter project biggrin

Marimoon reminded me that it's time for an update...

My last day at work was strangely anticlimatic. It was pretty quiet because of the holidays (and the layoffs!) so I finished up my tickets, put the MSDN CD's back where they belonged, did some paperwork, sent my good bye message and then...after 10.5 years...that was it!

The next day, I flew back to California and...

I've just come back from an overnight trip to Exeter to see Andrea Kenny at the North Bridge Inn. She used to sing in this band before she split up with them. She's got a gorgeous voice and it was definitely worth the trip! I don't think she has a website yet but I'm still looking.....

Yep, I was made redundant today...or laid off as it's known the 'states. Good severance though so I'm not complaining. 10.5 years in one place is a long time so it was a good time to move on.

How quickly things change....

I just found out that my job may be cut. I'll know more next week. So far, that cuts have been pretty brutal back at the head office in SF. These cuts are company-wide...a lot of familiar names had their accounts disabled yesterday. It's a little freaky because I was out sick yesterday and then came back today not knowing what...

Yesterday, I rode up to London for a meeting with my colleague Adrian. We got sidetracked on a couple of issues but got a couple of things done anyway.

Afterwards, I went off to a pensions seminar in another building and ended up getting the times wrong so I missed most of it...bleah! Kind of a waste...

It wasn't all bad though...I rode over to...
