She sleeps with eyes wide open
Dreams of another life take hold
Memories flash and fade within
Times of oppression and rage
Her body begins to tremble
from so much pain
Death is everywhere
Can she not wake up?
The rulers of this land seem
to be her captors
Chained, beaten, raped
She lies in a fetal position
unable to utter a single word
Her breath is shallow
Full moon over head is her only
light for her escape
Breaking away she sees the gate
With a start she wakes lying in a pool
of sweat feeling it was all too real
