Hello.....
ive been away for a few days in Poland. It is one of my favourite places so far. It was unlike anywhere i have ever been. I loved and hated the fact that i felt so lost, it was hard to communicate with people and read menus, but we figured it all out in the end.
The highlight was visiting the Auschwits Birkenaud Conventration camp. It is really unbeleivable, i didnt really know what to expect becasue i had never even heard about it until we planned the trip and Mok said he wanted to go. Mok filled me in as best he could on the history and the museum told me the rest. It is hard to beleives such horrible things took place there and not that long ago. It really makes you appreciate how good weve got it. We took alot of photos from the outside but you werent allowed to take any from inside which is fair enough, i find it a bit disrespectful. However there were still shitloads of fucking stupid people repeatedly taking photos after being told many times not to. Its not the kind of place that you take photos to show off to your mates. It made me sick that people got their photos taken smiling with the camp in the background wtf. I did take a few pics though to document the day, for myself however i dont think i could ever forget the things i saw, Tonnes of hair shaved from the prisoners, tonnes of shoes taken from them, hair brushes, prosthetic limbs....all rooms full of each. The faces that lined the walls of the prisoners.... the photos of some of the female survivors that weighed only 23 kgs from starvation.... a photo amoungst others will alwasy stand out, although black and white, you could see how bloodshoot his eyes were from crying and how terrified he was.

a friend of mine is polish, and her family had to escape Poland, in the process living in Germany, France, and finally settling here in Australia. she went back to Poland a few years ago and was so devestated by the situation, lifestyle and lack of things that we take for granted....still now in this time.
another friend had grandparents that were in the camp, and to this day he (who is 26), is traumatized by certain tattoos that remind him of the tattoos the nazis used to number the prisoners.
I actually stopped by to say what a beautiful profile pic you have, been meaning to for a week or so.
