Monday at approximately 5:06pm, I was dumped by my company where I was a conference director.

Since Sept. 19, 2001, I've been laid-off; out of work for year; employed as an editor at a job I hated for a year; sacked from that job; out of work again for about 3 months; employed as a conference director for 4 months; and now canned again.

Needless...

I can sympathize w/ the job troubles... Prior to the one I have now, I was unemployed for a stretch of 6 months. IT's nothing I'd care to repeat again. I never earned my BA from music school so, there were dozens of jobs that realistically I was qualified, even over-qualified for but, wasn't eligible. confused
theretronerd:
ouch. that fucking sucks bro but its good that youre willing to look within and not just go around pointing fingers everywhere else. i mean when things repeat in our life the universe is really trying to get through to us. i say yes, self esteem is something to think about. what is it in you that causes others to pass you by? look you over, turn the other way?

Another fine weekend comes to a close. I really have to do something about how my spirits plummet on Sundays in anticipation of the work week. By Sunday afternoon, I feel lower than the bug I just crushed under my boot. Gotta snap out of it.

Anyway, had fun at Bound Hartford Saturday, where I got to hang a bit with the lovely Nurse_Mengele and...

That's pretty lame! I can't count the number of times I've seen couples who'd consider themselves older, maybe even out of place, come in and check it out...9 times outta 10, they always come back. whatever Well, having an awesome time w/o them can only be a fitting revenge. Well that and maybe hitting them w/ something spiky on the end... wink biggrin
welntaod:
Ah, the book was God-Shaped Hole by Tiffanie DeBartolo... The artist and inspiration for that character was Jeff Buckley. wink

Friday night. Just caught Washington Week on PBS (I love that show), and my date called to cancel tonight. Shit. She's still stuck in Boston on business (we live a few towns apart in coastal CT) . We've been trying to get together for about a month now, and work and life has managed to get in the way each time. I'm heading to Bound...

Well, the weekend's over. I dropped 200 skins on new brakes for my truck, which I couldn't really afford, and I'm staring at another crap week ahead of me at work while I try to wrap up my latest project. Ugh.

Yanks were swept by the Red Sox: to all you Red Sox fans out there, you have a better team right now than the...

Hmm. My sister recently had to spend a grand on new universals for her truck. Seems like a bad time for vehicle problems. I hope my jeep stays intact for a little while longer.

I noticed, as I was flipping through the channels that the Yanks were up on the As. So perhaps they're turning things around. And it looks like the Sox are doing their damndest to blow out the arms of their entire rotation. So I wouldn't fret much if I were you.

Honestly, I appreciate the invitation, but I would be completely useless in the Alias group. I've seen maybe two full first season episodes. I'd be the fool who was constantly talking about how much I want to bend Jennifer over the back of a couch and make her moan.

My experience with friendships ending because of the denial of sex is pretty much the same as yours. Either I or my friend wanting the sex, the other didn't, and the friendship couldn't take it. Ah, well.

It's 2:30pm on a beautiful Saturday in CT and I'm... sitting in my condo watching the NFL Draft. It's amazing how much sports means in my life. I love it!

But, I'm mixed on what my NY Giants did. GM Ernie Accorsi got his man in Eli Manning, but I really wanted them to pick Robert Gallery, the O-lineman from Iowa. Corn-fed, big-ass, bad-ass. Hadn't...

Also, I have been going door-to-door (journal-to-journal) with a link to my group. If you notice that someone has Alias listed as their favorite TV show, drop the link in their journal. So far everyone I did that too joined the group!

It never hurts to adsvertise!!! Good luck!

biggrin
hammersmith:
I'll have to watch next week, dude. I got tickets to a concert tonight.

Or maybe I'll just see if I can get a bittorrent of it.

Yeah, baby! Yeah! SG just posted the new group I started... Alias! It's in the Arts & Entertainment section. Please join it and spread the love of the best show on TV, Alias! love

Not going to make it to Flux tonight (damn) because I've got some stuff to do at home. But, definitely planning on hitting Bound in Hartford on May 1.

Now stop reading...

I'm a Garner fan (kinda-sorta; I mean, I think she's hot, and she's invaded more than a few fantasies of mine without me really wanting her to even though the results were fairly pleasant), but I just don't dig the show. To be honest, I didn't really give it the chance it deserved when it started, and now it feels as though the mythos have progressed so far that there's no point in watched in now.

Perhaps this is a better way of thinking about my apathy regarding the upcoming election: the electoral college votes in my state are always won by the Democratic party. The popular vote is never even close. Kerry will win my state with or without my support. This is a good thing in that it means Bush will not win my state. It is a bad thing insofar as it means my vote doesn't count.

I've calmed down since my last entry. The weekend was gorgeous; the Yanks won today; I caught up with some friends on Friday; and I got some much needed sleep. Yay!

Now for the irritants: I've got the week-from-hell ahead of me in the office. My boss moved up my latest deadline 3 days, which will make it nearly impossible to get things done on-time....

Hmm. I recall an associate of mine had a hip problem that stemmed from disk problems. He was able to avoid surgery with an alternative treatment that, in his words, resembled being stretched on the torture rack. Apparently it stretched the spine out (we're talking millimeters here) so that the disks could return to their natural positions. He said it was painful but better than surgery. Hope you can avoid going under the knife.

Oh, no doubt, these early games count in the statistical sense, but rarely do teams play like these games mean anything. Consider the recent end of the NBA season. An even shorter season, but the first half hardly counts as long as a team finished strong. Likewise, late in the season the Yanks and others will make their runs to win the division. How a team starts really has nothing to do with how they finish.

As said, invidiuals have no sway over politics. If groups get together, they can effect the political process. I belong to no groups that have political power, so I feel no urgency or responsibility about the current political situation. I vote my conscience and always lose.

OK, I've got two things on my mind (at the moment) that are kind of pissing me off. First, the Yankees got spanked again the Red Sox, and I'm not happy about it. Hockey's my main sport followed by football, but the Rangers are currently working on their short game instead of their powerplay in the playoffs, and football's still a few months off (not...

Work! Shit! I like my job and the people, but getting up early to ride the rails is growing old. Ugh. But, I need this job because I'm essentially broke (due to my spending habits and those two crushing periods of unemployment over the last 3 years).

Work reared its ugly head and prevented me from getting up to NH for Flux tonight. Damn. Hopefully,...

Yeah, I occaisionally get hooked on shows that make little sense...Didn't get sucked into American Idol but damn if Big Brother get me. Bad enough to tape episodes that I'd miss from work, etc. and consider signing onto their streaming video feed. whatever Thanks for the poem comment! Wednesdays are "Journal Poetry Day". Some people join in by posting original stuff, some post some work by favorite authors, some cheer by the sidelines... biggrin

First journal entry... where should I begin? That "I was born a poor black child..." line is getting pretty old, especially since my folks would kill me if they knew I was trying to play that shit off, even in jest.

The last 3 years have been rather lousy for me in the overall scheme of things. Miserable jobs followed by two crushing bouts of...
