Can someone explain to me what the big deal is with this uproar over the new TSA scanner/pat down policy? I'm not traveling this holiday season, but in order to safely get where I need to go (if I was traveling), I wouldn't have a problem with either. And, I wouldn't bark out insults and threats when a TSA worker tried to do their job. It's sad to me that now people have politicized something like this. mad

There is a thread about this on the CE boards. Basically what it comes down to is that 1) the new scanners don't detect what they are intended too; 2) there are agents who are way to overzealous with their pat-downs, and groping people in ways that would be considered a felony if you or I did it to a stranger. I dunno. I'm of a mind that if you don't have anything to hide, what is the problem? Yet, some scumbag grabbing my balls to check for weapons crosses a line for me.

I'm ambivalent about this whole thing. I don't believe that if you don't have anything to hide you should subject yourself to any and all policies that some governmrnt agency decides to establish.

On the other hand, I'd like to feel safer. My lifelong belief that the right to privacy trumps everything else, I'm leaning on the side of those that rail against these invasive techniques.

I'll be interested to see how many people refuse either method of screening tomorrow.
